A place to discuss your best, worst, or most unusual drinking experiences!

This should be interesting!

Nacho...you don't want to go there.

Seriously...I did have an unusual experience regarding drinking margaritas last night.  Not a personal experience because I don't drink any more.  But, my Mom, Sis, and I went to the neighborhood Mexican restaurant last night (we go there at least once a week) and we were sitting there eating and these two middle aged women came in...now, from the gitgo, they looked like they'd found themselves in the WRONG place, like this place was more than just a little beneath them; I just hate it when people act like they're better than everybody else.  Anyway, they sat down and ordered margaritas.  I have not actually tasted them, but this little place has a reputation for having EXCELLENT margaritas.  One of these gals tasted her margarita and screwed her face all up and called the waiter back over...and told him he needed to do something to it to make it sweeter!!!!  I have never heard of such!  Blasphemy!  Hello?  Margarita...lime juice and salt...not supposed to be overly sweet.  Geez.  Never seen anything like it before.  My sister, who has never had an alcoholic beverage in all her 39 years...said, "Why the hell didn't she just order a daquiri or a pina colada if she wanted sweet?"  I had to leave.

Although I am not what you call a drinker because I go months and months without having a drink and I don't have any stories to tell but I sure do like a little Bailey's in my coffee if I have coffee at night or just put Bailey's over ice and hand it to me.  That is some good stuff.

For beer, just give me a Corona with lime in a bottle...hubby calls this panther piss but I like it.  (I keep asking him if he's ever drank panther piss   )

My very favorite drink (when I used to drink alcohol) was a "cherry coke" made with cherry brandy and diet coke (you can use the regular coke, but it makes it verrrry sweet) over ice.  Now, that was a delicious drink.  I will not say how many I could drink back in the day  .

Now, I just make do with sparkling water; I really like Perrier - who doesn't? - but my local grocery chain has a really good one, too, LaCroix, bottled by Everfresh LaCroix Beverages in Warren, Michigan.  I have seen it in other stores here, but I don't have any idea how wide the distribution is on it.  If you see it, though, do try it.

My other favorite drinks these days are the old standbys - Diet Pepsi and iced tea.

Eldest son "invented" a drink he really liked (I tried it, but was not nearly as enthusiastic....   )   Dr. Pepper and Peppermint Schnapps.  He called it a "Dr Peppermint."

Personally, my favorite drinks are Tullamore Dew (either straight up with Ginger Ale chaser, or mixed with Ginger Ale,) or Chartruese (straight up, sipped very slowly!!!)

The most drunk I ever got (and will never be that drunk again, thankyouverymuch,) was on Kamikazi's back in the '80's.  I don't know what's in them, but they go down too easily, and you're potted before you know it!

Like Dee, I love Corona with lime (I prefer mine in a frozen mug rather than the bottle, though.)  I'd rather have Sam Adams Pale Ale, but cannot find that anywhere in this Redneck Country!

Also, like Dee, I like a little Bailey's in my coffee about once a month (although, I make the coffee with a bit of Hazlenut grounds added - seems to compliment the Bailey's.)  YUM!

A Licorice Anaconda is 1/2 ounce anisette in a 12 ounce Guinness served at 55-60 deg F.

Now, aren't you sorry that you misinterpreted the origin of my nic?

I'm more of a wine drinker, mostly Zinfendel's, but do love Toasted Almond's - 1/3 Kahlua, 1/3 Ameretto, & 1/3 half & half, over ice.  They sneak up on you but boy are they good!

My sister makes up a pitcher of Fuzzy Navel's for her Sunday brunches and my granddaughter introduced me to Smirnoff Ice with Green Apple......yum!

Beth, I like Kahula, Ameretto and love 1/2 & 1/2 in about anything I can use it in.  I'm going to have to try this drink as it sounds yummy.    I am going out tomorrow and get a bottle of Baileys so I'll grab a bottle of Kahlua and Ameretto too.  My SIL had me try a new drink over Thanksgiving that was really good but I can't remember what was in it so I'll find out and tell you later..
