Why not, since we spent so little time within the 9K level...

Basically, this OP followed the Market everytime we broke down or up through the 8,000 level, which has happened many times, and we could go back throught it again tomorrow...

Gonna be a bumpy roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, some minor, some major, for some time to come.

Your right but it hs been going down slowly since it was at 14K about 13 months ago, and I feel sure that it will go back through 7K after going through 8K...

I agree Warrior. And it will cruise bottom, and bump along there while the other liabilities come due.

Gee, do you suppose the credit card scams came from the same banks as the mortgage scams?

Of course, they will blame gummermint, and gummermint will blame them, and we all know both share responsibility.

What I don't understand is why I keep getting solicitations through the mail to take out new credit cards.

WWII, when I was actively trading (until some 3 years ago), I did not watch or give a hoot for where any of the "market" indicators were. The only items of interest to me were what/where my personal stock were and where I expected them to go. I never owned or trusted index thingys. yep, I made a few bucks over the years.

oc...my view is that trading is for young people.

OC, trading stock is for folks with money to burn, and this is a nice bonfire.

Yes, the DOW even went down to 7,552, and it was only 2 away from my predicted support level of 7,550 that I made on another board, over a month ago and need to bring it over here...

I do feel that the credit card scams did come from some of the same Banks, that are involved in this Sub-Prime problems... We have a long way to go to reach the bottom, and only until we get all of the problems resolved...

I hardly know anything about the markets.  Old Coot, your message #9 is exactly what my husband was telling me about last night.  He was telling me that he only had money in one, I think he said it was Dow, but when it started to go down and kept up the same thing, he said something is really strange and fishy here.  That's when he took his money out and just put it in savings.  He was saying that it was no big deal to him if it only gets 1% interest, that's a lot better than losing ever penny you have.

Bellelettres,  What you've said, has me remembering what I thought last night.  You were saying that you keep getting solicitations on these credit cards.  What was in my head last night was, I wonder why these credit card companies quit sending their credit cards here.
I guess it was just kinda shocking for me to read what you said since I thought the complete opposite.  I thought everyone in the U.S. were treated exactly the same.  Now I know different........Thanks for giving me more knowledge.

One thing is for sure, is that we are all not treated the same, since I get at least 3 offers a week, and also received offers every week from Washington Mutual right up to the day that they went out of business... LOL

We all need to get out of the Credit Card business, since we have a lot more problems coming up and it may get tougher to make it...

Wamu is advertising, with a nice warm fuzzy ad about a guy who loves this bank.

I wonder how many of the 9,500 workers to be laid off my Wamu before Christmas, are full of warm fuzzies about how they love this bank?
