am I living in the same world as the news????
Went out for lunch --- restaurant so crowded that we could hardly get in! I was under the impression that everybody was down and out, or mostly so. Also, the store that we dropped in on the way home was as busy as a bee. Lots and lots of traffic too.
oc...oh well .... |

Coot...it seems like irony doesn't it. The thing is, we're now in a generation of busy people for whom time is money...so even though budgets are tight, people don't necessarily think of cooking at home as one way to save money. Depending on where you shop for food and where you eat out, sometimes its an even trade... |

Old-Coot your Op You could have the same situation that happened to our town, and I posted an Op about it sometime ago... Two of our large Restaurants close on a Sat. night and never to be heard from again, but the reamaining restaurants has seen a huge increase in customers, and they are busy... WWII |

With the prices of food like they are, a meal at home for a family of four only saves me about six bucks. For about 20 dollars I can feed myself, my wife, and two kids at local mom and pop restaurants. An adult meal runs about 6 bucks with the drink and the kids are about three. More often than not I cook, but on weekends, one meal is usually from a restaurant. |

Coot, It's Christmas time of year.... people are out doing things right now they wouldn't do in February or March. Sure, there's a bump in sales right now, but it won't last long. By April, we'll be seeing a lot of "beat up" consumers! Nacho! |
