After reading everything that people wrote, I'm at a loss for words because I agree with all of them.  I just hope that you

I would advise everyone to start taking Airborne....  over the counter medicine.  I have been taking it for over 5 years now and do not catch others colds, do not get the flu and I think it's the best over the counter preventative medicine invented... which it was invented by a school teacher.

Get better Nacho...  So sorry to hear you are ill.

Here I am 24 hours later. Feeling a tad bit better. Laid in bed all day, soaked in an epsom salt bath for an hour or two, and think it broke my fever.

I've been doing the Nyquil thing, (like Stinky suggested). The taste.... UHG!

I thought about getting a flu shot this year, and then thought, "I haven't been sick in years, besides I ain't got the time......" Now look at me!

And Dee, Airborne is good stuff. My mom also recommended it too, but I'm already around the block with this bug. We'll see where I'm at in the morning.....

Nacho!

Yup, been there... A number of years ago our doc sent us a reminder that the flu shots were available and would be administered for our age group on a particular Saturday. my appointment was for the early afternoon. In the resulting week or so's wait I was asked to work that Saturday afternoon for the usual rate of double time pay. No contest, I worked. A week or two later I was felled by Flu. I was off work two weeks but it took six weeks before I felt fully back to normal. Never again will I miss the jab.

Most likely still voting Republican. Be sure to pull the handle, to clear the ballot so the next voter isn't mortified by your choice.

And Dee, Airborne is good stuff.

This Airborne?

WASHINGTON ?The maker of Airborne dietary supplements has agreed to pay $7 million to settle allegations by 32 states that it made false claims about the benefits of its fruit-flavored products.

Under the settlement, Airborne Health agrees to discontinue any claims about the "health benefit, performance, efficacy or safety" of its supplements in preventing and treating colds and other ailments.

Earlier this year, the company agreed to pay out $30 million to settle nearly identical allegations stemming from a class action lawsuit brought by consumers and the Federal Trade Commission.

The Bonita Springs-based company markets a line of water-dissolving tablets that are sold in pharmacies and grocery stores nationwide.

The company's Web site claims Airborne supplements "support your immune system through its blend of vitamins and minerals."

In a statement issued Tuesday, Airborne said the agreement "will have no impact on our products or on the ability of consumers to buy them, because it deals with language that had already been dropped from our advertising and labeling."

The company admitted no wrongdoing as part of the settlement.

States taking part in the settlement include California, New Jersey, Texas and Connecticut.

"This settlement is a powerful step towards curbing a culture of label lying, whether by Airborne or other dietary supplements," Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said in a statement. "We're putting the dietary supplement industry on notice ?snake oil sales pitches will no longer be given free reign."

Ah, the power of suggestion! A placebo will make you feel better if you think it will. I wonder if ordinary vitamin suppliments would do as well? Our diets (most, anyway) are shoddy, so they can't hurt. Amazing how our minds and attitudes have so much effect on our health.  Stress can make us ill in many ways. My high BP is a direct result of prolonged stress. My cortisol, the hormone released when you are stressed, scared etc., got stuck in "high gear" because my stress was unrelenting for an entire year. It increases blood pressure among other things.

Airborne may have used exaggerated language on its label, but it works. My sister swears by it (she would if she swore; she doesn't swear, but she would if ...

That brings up an interesting point.  It seems to be accepted that stress can kill and also that using lethal force in self-defense is entirely justifiable.

Has anyone ever tried this argument in court after being charged with murder for offing some annoying asshole who really needed killing?
