Caroline Kennedy to seek Clinton’s Senate seat

Daughter of American political dynasty has decided to enter spotlight

Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of an American political dynasty, has decided she will pursue the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senator Hillary Rod ham Clinton, a person told of her decision said Monday.

The decision came after a series of deeply personal and political conversations, in which Ms. Kennedy, who friends describe as unleash but determined, wrestled with whether to give up what has been a lifetime of avoiding the spotlight.

Ms. Kennedy will ask that Gov. David A. Paterson consider her for the appointment. The governor was travelling to Utica today could not immediately be reached for comment.

 { If you happen to be a Kennedy, a Bush or a Clinton does that automatically give you the necessary qualifications to run for political office? Why does the American voter seem so enamoured of political family dynasty's? Do we really need another Kennedy in the Senate? Is it their birthright or something? How long before the Bush twins and Chelsey Clinton are in the Senate? Will the Obama's become the next political royal family? Where does it all end? Whatever happen to the concept of the citizen politician?}
