This is what my brother was cooking when he talked to my Mom on the phone last night:
 
IMPOSSIBLE CHEESEBURGER PIE  

1 lb. cooked ground beef
1 1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. shredded cheese
1 1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. Bisquick
3 eggs

Mix all the ingredients together and pour in a 9 x 11 baking pan (sprayed with nonstick oil).
Bake at 400 degrees 30 to 40 minutes.
 
He said he used to make it a long time ago, but he never wrote down the recipe because it was always on the Bisquick box.  Then he forgot about it, and when he wanted to make it again, it wasn't on the box any more, and he couldn't remember the amounts of ingredients to put in.  So, he went to the grocery store and looked at all the Bisquick boxes on the shelf (they sometimes have different recipes on different boxes), and he still could not find it.  He works at Sam's Club, and one day he was fronting merchandise in the grocery aisle, and saw the recipe on the back of a 5-lb box of Bisquick.  He didn't want to buy that much (he lives alone), so he copied down the recipe on the back of a sign and took it with him, LOL.  Anyway, it sounded really good, especially for cool evenings when you want something hot but don't want to go to a lot of trouble.  We are going to try it with a salad tonight.

those recipes that use things like bisquick all mixed with the other ingredients and then separate during cooking have always amazed me. I know its about the cooking and the chemical reaction of the ingredients that separates them but its still amazing. The pie sounds good, i will have to pick up some bisquick and make it one day.
 
 
Tell your brother that next time he may try the bisquick website, im sure they have one, and i bet the recipe is there, along with others.

Yes, that is where I found the recipe, at the Bisquick website, I was looking for it for Mom.  He has a computer, but it's on the fritz right now, and he's either too lazy or too cheap (either is possible) to get it fixed.

Me, too!  There is a recipe for something called "Sic 'em Tiger Breakfast Squares" that uses eggs, cheese, sausage/bacon/ham (you can use one of these or all of them), and Bisquick.  It makes a delicious "quiche" type breakfast casserole.  I'm gonna have to go back to the website and see if I can find it there.  I LOVE that stuff!

I use Bisquick for 'Impossible Pies' too but also for the following....they come out tasting like the real thing for a fraction of the price.
 
 
Red Lobster's Copycat Cheese & Garlic Biscuits

2 cups Bisquick
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder ....I sprinkle some additional garlic powder into the batter as well.

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.

  1. Mix bisquick, milk and cheese until a soft dough forms.
  2. Drop by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake 10-14 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Mix butter or margarine and garlic powder.
  5. Brush mixture over warm biscuits before removing from cookie sheet

Yeah, Mom has been making the Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuits with bisquick for years; it's the primary reason she buys bisquick - when we have regular biscuits, she makes them from scratch (she's a good ol' southern cook) - YUMMY!
