I just read a post at the produce station in ann arbor that they had their first michigan asparagus of the season. they mentioned that the weather may have caused the season to only last four short weeks.

So we have to eat it at every meal till the season is over. lol

i went to the little ypsi farmers market today. mostly plants. but a couple of michigan veggies. few carrots and some green onions. they seem to expect asparagus next week. i sure hope so.
I did get a fabulous foccacia topped with baked cheese, still warm from the food co ops booth. very yummy.

its great the fa`rmers market is close enough to scooter too, and so is the larger one on weekends at depot town. I am enjoying the scooter sooo much.

I've been able to pick up 125 lbs so far. I've sold every single stalk as fast as it came in......

I ordered another 1000 lbs for tomorrow, don't know if I'll get it yet.... Might come close though.... (It's been too cold at night).

I love asparagus but am not sure I am fixing it correctly.  I buy the fresh asparagus then steam it and season it.  Anything else I am suppose to do to it?   Seems like the canned asparagus I buy tastes better than when I make it.

i love fresh asparagus. i just break off the very ends and steam it, makin sure to stop steaming while it is still bright green. I generally dont use much seasoning, since its so good.

If you like canned better you probably like more salt and for it to be cooked til its more mushy, since thats sort of how the canned asparagus is.
