Today is an empty roaming
a search in the dusty corners
peeking behind cracked doors
peering under chests of drawers

cobwebs in the corner
wave in greeting
dusty filaments sporting hollow shells
grotesque jewels

wallpaper stained and curled
reveals holes
missing stucco
piles in white dust
     to dust
     to ashes
in the cold fireplace
where sooty brick and charcoal
betray truth of an extinguished fire.

neverCominHome, you may not have intended to describe a day in the life of an Electronics Engineer, but I had many such days. Thank you a mil for the poem.

Blue...You're always welcome!  I just recalled swapping stories with these guys on the other thread...

OC...glad it struck a chord.  That's what it's about to me...relating to others...if I can't do that through my writing, something's not right.

I just read it again, and it was even better than the first time! Jen, I love this. Do you mind if I copy it and keep it in a file, in hopes of adding more of your poems in future? You should get published, hon. When you do, I want to get my copy autographed!

Jen,  I salute your poem with one of my own.

                                        Everything I Am
Don't try to hold me,
For I am a rainbow from a prism
a piece of light and nothing more.

Don't try to catch me,
for I am a shadow, ever moving
  sometimes here, sometimes not.

Don't try to know me,
for I am a cloud on a summer day
  changing from moment to moment.

Love me, though, fragile as I am,
for I am as demanding as a newborn babe
craving love and tenderness more each day.

Love me, please, as long as time,
for I am here to love and be loved
and I will share everything I am.

Nice imagery, and impressionism.

Date could be the last line.
