waiting waiting

     for the dentist

to pull those alligator teeth from my back

 

like brutus

     it attacked

from behind

 

reaching all the way to the heart

     leaving just enough

to pump dry

 

now the shadow of me

     walks the 'gator

wanting more than anything to let go

 

knowing that would be fatal

 

never when i'm watching

    never when on guard

     .....just attacked.
