In August of 2002, my wife woke me up at 4:00AM telling me of hearing at noise at the backdoor. I got up and went investigate. I found a terrified puppy that someone had dumped inside the fence in my backyard. This little puppy weighed 4 lbs, she wasn't even weaned yet. The little girl was petrified and shaking, her little teeth chattering. I picked her up and cuddled her in my arms, she immediately nestled herself deeper in my arms and her little tail began to wag......and I was a goner. We took her into the kitchen and warmed some milk which she lapped up quickly. I then prepared her a bed in a box beside our bed. The little girl is a Pit Bull Mix of some kind, which we named "Martha".......because she looks like Martha...LOL Two days later I found from our local dog catcher that Martha was one of seven puppies dumped in seven different yards that night between midnight and 3:00AM.
Martha has become a super addition to our family, and now believes that she is a "Brown Schnauzer" written by Buff. |
