Dude is going to be moving to Minnesota!
He is VERY sweet and fun to ride. He's a lot shorter than she said he was (she hadn't measured him but just guessed). For the horse people, he's more like 15.2 to 15.3 hands instead of the 16.2 hands that was advertised. But that will be better for what I'm buying him for anyway. I don't need to have two giants~LOL. Any of my friends who would come out to ride would rather ride a horse his size than Jerry's size anyway. He's the darker color in the fall and winter (like he is now) and bleaches out to the lighter (almost buckskin) color in the summer.
I'm going to get a pre-purchase exam done by a vet from that area this week, but I don't expect the vet to find anything that would deter me from buying him. And he's up-to-date on all his vaccinations.
So if all goes as planned, I'll be picking him up next weekend (hopefully Saturday) after I pick up my new horse trailer! So he'll get to christen the trailer.
I left my house at 9:35 a.m. on Saturday and got home at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday! We got lost when we were almost there (and I had the wrong phone number so couldn't call her), and the ENTIRE drive back was in the thickest fog I've ever seen so we couldn't drive even close to the normal speed. I had my flashers on the whole time in the thick fog so that nobody would rear-end me in the fog.
When we go next weekend, we'll leave at the butt-crack of dawn so that we'll be able to get him home and unloaded while it's still daylight.
We got there so late that we were running out of daylight, so I snapped two quick pictures of him and a video of his present owner lunging him. My friend took a video of me riding him but it was so dark by that time that you can't even see anything on the video. So I'll get a video of us (in the daylight) once I get him home.
So here's Dude!
right before she fastened the cinch ...
and here's a video of him lunging. Isn't he cute?
