I wrote this for my dear best friend in SC and thought some of you might enjoy it. - Hugs ~ Mims
The Vase
I have a vase that's beautiful.
How it reflects the light,
But I turn it so its jagged crack
Is hidden out of sight.
You'd never know it has a flaw
The compliments it gets.
And it sets the tone for a cozy room
Where others come and sit.
One day a precious friend of mine
Detected with keen eyes
That which I had tried to hide.
Or, in some way just disguise.
She went and lifted the precious piece.
So gentle was her hand.
She turned and saw the damage there,
"Oh, I see, I understand."
I knew the time had come for me
To replace this broken piece,
But her meaning was not that at all,
Her eyes gave me release.
"It must mean a great deal to you,"
She said so softly without pause,
"And you keep the crack well hidden,
But like this vase we all have flaws."
"Because you are so dear to me
I understand and know,
Those damage places in your heart,
Those wounds that hurt you so."
"And rest assured, friend of my heart,
You're not damaged goods to me.
I see your worth and value.
God's love you help me see."
"I don't want you to worry,"
I heard her so sincerely say.
"Just like this vase you hold so dear,
You'll not be thrown away."
Now when I view my vase
With the crack that most don't see,
I'm so thankful for the friend I've found
Who loves the broken me. ©Mims 9/29/2006
