History of the Toy Fox Terrier Breed The Toy Fox Terrier was bred in America from the smooth fox terrier and smaller toy breeds such as the Chihuahua and the Manchester terrier. This breed, being both a toy and a terrier, exhibits characteristics of both. It is animated and courageous like a terrier, with a milder disposition from the toy breeds. This terrier has maintained its interest in hunting and will readily go to ground to flush out rodents or tree squirrels. It also makes a great family pet with endless energy for playing with children. Size and Appearance of the Toy Fox Terrier The toy fox terrier is a small dog with a muscular, athletic appearance.
