A SOLDIERS POEM He lived all alone In A One Bedroom House Made Of Plaster And Stone.
I Had Come Down The Chimney With Presents To Give, And To See Just Who In This Home Did Live.
I Looked All About, A Strange Sight I Did See, No Tinsel, No Presents, Not Even A Tree.
No Stocking By Mantle, Just Boots Filled With Sand, On The Wall Hung Pictures Of Far Distant Lands.
With Medals And Badges, Awards Of All Kinds, A Sober Thought Came Through My Mind.
For This House Was Different, It Was Dark And Dreary, I Found The Home Of A Soldier, Once I Could See Clearly.
The Soldier Lay Sleeping, Silent, Alone, Curled Up On The Floor In This One Bedroom Home.
The Face Was So Gentle, The Room In Such Disorder, Not How I Pictured A United States Soldier.
Was This The Hero Of Whom I'd Just Read? Curled Up On A Poncho, The Floor For A Bed?
I Realized The Families That I Saw This Night, Owed Their Lives To These Soldiers Who Were Willing To Fight.
Soon Round The World, The Children Would Play, And Grownups Would Celebrate A Bright Christmas Day.
They All Enjoyed Freedom Each Month Of The Year, Because Of The Soldiers, Like The One Lying Here.
I Couldn't Help Wonder How Many Lay Alone, On A Cold Christmas Eve In A Land Far From Home.
The Very Thought Brought A Tear To My Eye, I Dropped To My Knees And Started To Cry.
The Soldier Awakened And I Heard A Rough Voice, "Santa Don't Cry, This Life Is My Choice;
I Fight For Freedom, I Don't Ask For More, My Life Is My God, My Country, My Corps."
The Soldier Rolled Over And Drifted To Sleep, I Couldn't Control It, I Continued To Weep.
I Kept Watch For Hours, So Silent And Still And We Both Shivered From The Cold Night's Chill.
I Didn't Want To Leave On That Cold, Dark, Night, This Guardian Of Honor So Willing To Fight.
Then The Soldier Rolled Over, With A Voice Soft And Pure, Whispered, "Carry On Santa, It's Christmas Day, All Is Secure."
One Look At My Watch, And I Knew He Was Right. "Merry Christmas My Friend, And To All A Good Night."
Air Force Army Marines Coast Guard Navy
A Marine stationed in Okinawa Japan wrote this poem. The following is his request.
"PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. armed forces." |

A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN
Sure, a little bit o' Heaven fell from out of the sky one day, And nestled on the ocean in a spot so far away; And the angels found it, sure it looked so sweet and fair. They said suppose we leave it, for it looks so peaceful there! So they sprinkled it with star dust just to make the shamrocks grow; 'Tis the only place you'll find them, No matter where you go; Then they dotted it with silver To make its lakes so grand, And when they had it finished Sure they called it IRELAND! ~Author Unknown~

A MIRACLE CALLED LOVE. A miracle called love dwells within the heart, You don't know how it happens, Or when it gets it's start. But the happiness it brings you Always give a joyful lift, You realize that love, Is God's most precious gift... ~Author Unknown~ |

WE CELEBRATE. We trim a tree and wrap up gifts With festive colors bright, We gather 'round a cozy fire To sing "O Holy Night." We cook a juicy turkey And make big fancy pies, And plan to find some special ways To strengthen family ties. There are many different customs We share o'er all the earth, As we celebrate the coming Of our our Lord's holy birth! ~~By Joyce Mary Ecochard~~ |

MY CHRISTMAS PRAYER.
Dear Lord! I ask this Christmas day, One gift! All else above; And I do sincerely pray, Lord! Send it with thy love. A gift so precious to us all, A light of hope and hearts renew; No greater gift could us befall, Nor joy that once we knew. It would unite the world around, And men and nations free; Oh, for that joyous sound, Wherever we may be. Lord! Give it forth to every land, And cause all wars to cease; Heard by every tribal band, The gift I seek is peace. ~~By Faye-Linda McGovern~~ |

THE CHRISTMAS STAR.
May the Light that shone from the Christmas Star On that night so long ago. Fall on you this Christmas night and set your face aglow. May it shine from your eyes. May it rest in your mind. May it burn in your Spirit bright. May the Peace it spoke to a weary world. Bring joy to your heart tonight. ~~By M. Garren~~ |

THE NIGHT OF HALLOWEEN. The Harvest moon fills the sky A wicked witch goes flying by Ghosts and goblins..skeleton's too. Moaning and groaning, waiting for you Black cats prowl the graveyard plots Witches cook in cauldron pots Cemetery ghouls roam the ground Not one unopened grave is found Tombstones are an eerie sight Shadows dance in full moon light The haunted house on the hill Walk in there and you get a chill Jack-o-lanterns eyes so bright Trick or Treaters scream in fright It's a time like you've never seen Tonight's the night of Halloween. ~By Sandi VanderSluis/ Corky Ferguson. TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT Tonight is the night when dead leaves fly like witches on switches across the sky. When elf and sprite flit through the night on a moony sheen. Tonight is the night when leaves make a sound like a gnome in his home under the ground. When spooks and trolls creep out of the holes, all mossy and green. Tonight is the night when pumpkins stare through sheaves and leaves everywhere. When ghoul and ghost and goblin host dance round their Queen. IT'S HALLOWEEN!!! HAVE A HAPPY & SAFE HALLOWEEN!!! ~Harry Behn~ |

God bless our native land! Firm may she ever stand Through storm and night, When the wild tempests rave, Ruler of winds and wave, Do Thou our country save By Thy great might. For her our prayer shall rise To God, above the skies, On Him we wait: Thou who art ever nigh, Guarding with watchful eye, To Thee aloud we cry, God save the State! ~John Sullivan Dwight~ | |

"MEMORIAL DAY POEM."
The bugle echoes shrill and sweet, But not of war it sings to-day. The road is rhythmic with the feet Of men-at-arms who come to pray.
The roses blossom white and red On tombs where weary soldiers lie; Flags wave above the honored dead And martial music cleaves the sky.
Above their wreath-strewn graves we kneel, They kept the faith and fought the fight. Through flying lead and crimson steel They plunged for Freedom and the Right.
May we, their grateful children, learn Their strength, who lie beneath this sod, Who went through fire and death to earn At last the accolade of God.
In shining rank on rank arrayed They march, the legions of the Lord; He is their Captain unafraid, The Prince of Peace...Who brought a sword.

EASTER WISH
Easter is a time of love, of family, and of peace. It is a time when we say a quiet thanks for all that we have and for all that the future holds. Easter is a feeling in our hearts of hope and faith and trust.
It is a day of miracles; a day when our dreams seem a little closer; a time of retrospection for what has been, and anticipation of all that will be. And it is a time for remembering with love and appreciation the people in our lives who make a difference... people like you.

The Original poem for "O Canada" by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier.
O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North, strong and free! And stand on guard, O Canada, We stand on guard for thee.
Refrain O Canada, glorious and free! We stand on guard, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!
O Canada! Where pines and maples grow. Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow. How dear to us thy broad domain, From East to Western Sea, Thou land of hope for all who toil! Thou True North, strong and free!
Refrain O Canada, glorious and free! etc.
O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise, To keep thee steadfast through the years From East to Western Sea, Our own beloved native land! Our True North, strong and free!
Refrain O Canada, glorious and free! etc.
Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer, Hold our dominion within thy loving care; Help us to find, O God, in thee A lasting, rich reward, As waiting for the Better Day, We ever stand on guard.
Refrain O Canada, glorious and free! etc

HOW TO LIVE IN THE NEW YEAR Life is a journey; I will live it trustingly: "though I walk through the valley of the shadow ... I will fear no evil: for thou art with me" (Psalm 23:4) Life is a task; I will live it obediently: "we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight" (1 John 3:22) Life is a mission; I will live it helpfully: "Be ye kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another" (Ephesians 4:32) Life is a contest; I will live it earnestly: "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong." (1 Corinthians 16:13) Life is a battle: I will live it courageously: "Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid; for the Lord thy God is with thee" (Joshua 1:9) |

NEW YEAR WISHES May peace fill all the empty spaces around you And in you, may contentment answer all your wishes. May comfort be yours, warm and soft like a sigh. And may the coming year show you that every day is really a first day, a new year. Let abundance be your constant companion, so that you have much to share. May mirth be near you always, like a lamp shining brightly on the many paths you travel. May you be true love. ~Author Unknown~ |

THANKSGIVING. The year has turned its circle, The seasons come and go. The harvest all is gathered in And chilly north winds blow. Orchards have shared their treasures, The fields, their yellow grain, So open wide the doorway --- Thanksgiving comes again! ~~Old Rhyme.~~ |
