Update Jan 3
Tootsie is such a social butterfly! She thinks it is her job to run our home. She is bossy to the other Labs in her foster home but not aggressive. She just like them to do what she tell them to. She gets nervous if left alone so she will need to be placed in a home that has other dogs. She would also be a great companion for a house bound person. She has considered therapy work but feels she would gain too muich weight if she worked in that situation as she can't resist treats. She is a special girl and needs someone to love her for the rest of her life. Her age appears to be around 6 years old. UPDATE September 22
Tootsie is doing great in her foster home. To have formally been an outside dog, she sure has made herself at home as an inside dog. To tell you the truth, I think she's not necessarily an ?inside? or an ?outside? dog but definitely a people dog.
She loves everyone she meets. She's kissed all the kids in the neighborhood and they've fallen in love. She begs to be petted and all that meet her say ?What a great dog!?
In addition working on the leash, Tootsie has been crate-trained. She currently sleeps in a crate at night without a peep ? other than her snoring!! At this point, she doesn't spend much time in the crate during the day but she's so easy-going, she'd do fine if her forever home wanted to change that.
As you can see in the picture, she loves to play ball in the yard. She also likes to ride in the car, swim and, of course, be petted and told how good she is.
UPDATE September 14
Tootsie has been accident free since her first morning. It was a combination of not recognizing her "potty dance" and the fact that she was drinking huge amounts of water. We're watching the water and getting her outside regularly and that problem is solved!
In the five days she's spent at my house, we've really been working on leash-walking. She has completed several 30-40 minute walks wearing the gentle leader and has made tremendous progress. She also tends to jump because she's so excited to see you or that treat in your hand. I've seen a reduction in that bad habit as well.
She's well on her way to being the perfect dog!
Thanks
Tracy
