Baby Food Dog Cookies
Recipe submitted by Diana Hatfield - Bixby.
 
3 jars baby food
1/4 cup cream of wheat cereal
1/4 cup dry milk
  1. Combine all ingredients together, mixing well.
  2. Roll into 1-inch balls and place on a greased baking sheet. Flatten each ball with a fork.
  3. Bake at 350*F (175*C) for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire rack.

Cheesy Bone Cookies
 
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or other mild cheese)
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 tablespoons water
  1. Combine all ingredients to form a stiff dough.
  2. Turn out onto a floured work surface and knead for 3 to 5 minutes. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into bone or other desired shapes.
  3. Bake at 400*F (205*C) for 10 to 15 minutes or until bottoms of cookies are nicely browned. Cool completely on wire racks.

Chicken Liver Cookies
 
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
1 large egg, beaten
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 teaspoons dried parsley
1 cup chopped cooked chicken livers
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 cup canned mixed vegetables, mashed
  1. Combine flour and cornmeal.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat egg with the oil; add broth and parsley, mixing well.
  3. Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing well. Add the chicken livers and mix well.
  4. Turn out onto a floured work surface and knead for 3 to 5 minutes. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.
  5. Bake at 400*F (205*C) for 15 minutes or until nicely browned. Cool completely on wire racks. Store in refrigerator.

Dog Oil Supplement
Recipe submitted by Diana Hatfield - Bixby.
 
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup cod liver oil
1/4 cup flax seed oil
  1. Combine all ingredients together in a tightly covered jar/bottle or other container and shake well. Store in refrigerator.
  2. To use, add one to two teaspoons daily to your dog's wet and/or dry food.

Note: Safflower and sunflower oil may used as well.

Dog Treats

1 cup wheat germ
2 jars meat baby food
  1. Combine the wheat germ and baby food to form a dough.
  2. Roll into 1-inch balls. Place on a baking sheet and flatten each with a fork.
  3. Bake at 350*F (175*C) for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

Fatten'em Ups
 
5 pounds ground beef
10 egg yolks
5 cups wheat germ
5 cups oats
10 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup molasses
  1. Combine all ingredients well and form into 1/2-inch balls. Store in the freezer.
    Use for treats or weight gain.

Liver-Flavored Dog Biscuits

2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 large egg
1/2 cup non fat dry milk powder
1 beef bullion cube dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 cup liver powder

  1. Mix all ingredients together well.
  2. On a floured work surface, roll dough out to 1/4-inch thick. Cut into desired shapes. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
  3. Bake at 300*F (150*C) for 30 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

Fussy Eater

1 cup hot water
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup peanut oil
1/4 cup Borden's Mirra-Coat
  1. Grind kibble in food processor or blender.
  2. Mix all ingredients together and roll into 1/2-inch meat balls. Store in freezer. Use for treats or a for weight gain.

Meaty Doggy Treats

Good for dogs only!

6 ounces lean ground beef

7 teaspoons wheat germ

3 teaspoons NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Nonfat Dry Milk

1/2 teaspoon oil
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until no reddish-pink is showing; drain. Using a food processor grind meat until fine.
  3. Combine ground beef, wheat germ, powdered milk and oil in a bowl. Roll into 1-inch balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. Press flat. Bake 20 minutes or until light brown. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.

Makes 24.

Microwave Dog Donuts

2 cups whole wheat flour
2/3 cup beef or chicken broth
1 large egg, lightly beaten
3 tablespoons quick oats
1 teaspoon garlic powder

  1. Whisk the egg and broth together and add to the flour. Blend in oats and garlic powder. Form the dough into a ball.
  2. On a floured work surface, roll dough out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out "donuts" and arrange on a shallow baking dish in a single layer. (Repeat cooking process as space requires, do not crowd the "donuts".)
  3. Microwave on HIGH for 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

Molasses Dog Cookies

3 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
Dash salt
1/4 cup sliced almonds, finely chopped
1/4 cup margarine, softened
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup molasses
  1. Combine flour, wheat germ, salt and almonds. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut in margarine until mixture is crumbly. Stir in egg and molasses.
  2. Form dough into a ball, adding a few drops of water if needed. Roll dough out on a floured work surface to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  3. Bake at 375*F (190*C) for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire rack.

Oatzy Bizkits
 
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 cup oats
1/3 cups margarine
1 teaspoon base or bouillon granules (any flavor)
3/4 cup powdered milk
3/4 cup cornmeal
1 large egg, beaten
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
  1. In large mixing bowl, pour hot water over the oats, margarine and base. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in powdered milk, cornmeal and egg. Slowly stir in the flour, to form a stiff dough (adding more flour if needed).
  3. Turn dough out onto a floured work surface and knead 3 to 5 minutes. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes and place on a greased baking sheet.
  4. Bake at 325*F (160*C) for 50 minutes. Cool completely and allow to dry thoroughly before storing.

Parmesan Herb Doggie Treats
 
1 (.24-ounce) package active dry yeast (2 1/2 teaspoons)
1/4 cup lukewarm water
2 cups chicken broth
2 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup powdered milk
2 tablespoons dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup rye flour
1/2 cup rice flour
1 cup cracked wheat
1 large egg mixed with 1 tablespoon milk for glaze
  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add the chicken broth, oil, cheese, powdered milk, and herbs. Gradually stir in the flours and cracked wheat. (If needed, add enough wheat flour to form a stiff dough.)
  2. Transfer dough to a floured work surface and knead until smooth, about 3 to 5 minutes. Shape the dough into a ball and roll to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased baking sheets.
  3. Bake at 325*F (160*C) for 45 minutes. Remove from oven. Brush the treats on both sides with the glaze mixture. Bake for an additional 30 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

Veggie Dog Biscuits

1/2 cup cooked carrots or peas (or combination of both)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 cup whole wheat flour
Milk
  1. Combine the cheese and margarine. Mix in the carrots and/or peas, garlic and flour. Add enough milk to form for a stiff dough ball. Chill dough for 1 hour.
  2. Roll dough out on floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.
  3. Bake at 375*F (190*C) for 15 minutes or until nicely browned.
