I always wanted a dog, but we had no stablity where we were living, we were renting, and a lot of places did not allow a dog.
When we bought our first home, we started to look for a dog, we read about Goldens and Labs as we knew we wanted one of those 2 breeds.
We also decided to wait until the spring of 2005..and as I was always looking at Petfinders, I saw this cutest puppy..I showed it to Randy, and he got upset at me, just a little, because I did not apply for the adoption right away..duhhh, he wanted to wait till spring, and this was early January..lol..
Anyway, I applied to the humane society, filled in tons of paperwork..
Maggie was flown to the mainland, and then we got the news that she was not as healthy as they had expected, poor muscle tone, poor hips, underweight etc. The whole adoption procedure started over again, because the needed her to go to a family that understood the special needs of Maggie. We had already falling head over heels with Miss Maggie and after a very longgggggggg week,w e finally got to meet her..then again, the foster mom could not make up her mind, as they prefered Maggie to stay closer to the fostermom's area and we were over 1 hour away..Randy wrote a letter to the fostermom and her response to that was..Consider her yours..
Everyone here at FTLOD knew about this heartwrenching period of our lives, and showed so much support..
Maggie came to live with us on January 21, 2005.
She has blossomed into a very healty young lady..lol..she is training in the agility stuff, obedience, she loves to swim and going for walks, carrides, shopping at the petstores..
She is so loved by both Randy and myself..the best thing ever..
Here are the 2 pics, from when we saw her at Petfinders.
