To be fearful and see roadblocks and obsession when a friend simply offers unconditional love, is to view life through a distorting mirror - to be blind to the grail when synchronicity offers your soul's only meaningful journey.

You can't hold on to happiness.

It's ephemeral, fleeting. It happens like a dream.

And, like a dream, if you try too hard to hold on to it, it vanishes.

Enjoy happiness while it lasts without thinking about whether or not it will be here tomorrow. If you enjoy the moments of happiness and let them go with a clear heart,they will return.

I know you have problems and worries and concerns. Everyone does. It's okay to forget about them for a little while, to enjoy a television program or a book or a magazine article, to lose yourself in another reality.

Everything will still be there when you get back, and maybe you'll be able to deal with it a little better for the break.

Just for today, don't rise to the challenge. Turn the other cheek. Meet conflict with serenity. Don't let others disturb your tranquility.

Cats spend their days sleeping, washing, eating. They have no trouble asking for what they want. They'll use you for furniture if they feel like it, and if you get in their way, you'll get washed, too, with their remarkable tongues.

Take care of yourself like a cat. Get enough sleep, eat when you feel like it, wash yourself carefully and with deliberation. Ask for what you want. And if you don't want to be with people, hide from them.

A little self-absorption is good once in awhile.
