As Fae Kay prepares her lessons for us, I will just jump in and give you some ideas on your book. I have done one for each year of my magickal studies.
My first is called my BOOK OF REFLECTIONS rather than Book of Shadows, because one of my tenets is to REFLECT the Goddess by finding her in myself and building the Goddess-given qualities she has given me.
I was lucky to find the most feminine set of photo books, diary-size, with plastic leaves in to tuck stuff in. There was also a larger notebook to match--about 5"x 7"--all in rosy pink chintz pattern with lavendar flowers, etc. This latter I used for my BOOK OF REFLECTIONS! I taped a mirror onto the cover--to REFLECT me! And ran a silk ribbon along the side secured by a bumblebee talisman (Bumble is one of my totems!)
To the inside of the covers, I have a lovely card illustration of a Lady peering through a mystickal doorway. It is called THE GATEWAY. Also I secured an envelope in the back cover for clippings I am working on integrating into my BOR and some sayings and stickers to decorate.
Needless to say, the contents has been added to year after year and the pages are falling out and have had to be secured with clear packing tape!
Will tell you more ideas later.
