Red Hot Applesauce Salad*

2/3 C red hots (cinnamon candies)

2  C  boiling hot water

1 large package lemon Jell-O (regular or sugar free)

1   23 oz. jar applesauce

1 8 oz. Package PhiladelphiaCream Cheese

½ C chopped nuts                    ½ C celery cut fine (optional)

½ C Hellmann’s Mayonnaise

 

Melt red hots in hot water and stir until dissolved.

Pour red hot mixture over lemon Jell-O powder.

Add applesauce and stir until blended.

Pour into mold or 9 x 12 dish.  Chill until firm (several hours)

 

Then blend the (room temperature or warmed) cheese, nuts,

mayonnaise and celery until smooth.  Spread this mixture over

the top of the firm Jell-O mixture.  Cut into squares and may

be served on a bed of lettuce.  Serves 8

 

Can be used as a salad or dessert.
