Homemade Maple Syrup Recipe This is very easy to make and surprisingly good. We doubt that you can tell it from most of the store brands.
2 cups granulated sugar 1 cup water 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 teaspoon maple flavoring 2 tablespoons butter
In a saucepan, mix the sugar and water together and bring to a boil. Remove the syrup from the heat and add the cream of tartar, maple flavoring, and butter. Stir until smooth.
1 cup sliced fresh peaches 1 cup fresh blueberries 2 tablespoons sugar 1/2 cup unsweetened apple juice dash of ground nutmeg
Combine 1/2 cup peaches, 1/2 cup blueberries and remaining ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; then reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes. Add remaining fruit, stirring well. Serve warm over pancakes or waffles.
Mash berries and strain to extract juice. Measure 2 pints juice. In large kettle, combine 2 pints juice, sugar and spices. Simmer gently 15 minutes. Cool. Strain syrup through several layers of cheesecloth. Add brandy to strained syrup. Mix well. Bottle in attractive containers and cap or cork. If a thicker syrup is desired, cook an additional 10 minutes before adding brandy.
* 1 and 1/2 cups sugar * 3/4 cup buttermilk * 1/2 cup butter (or margarine) * 2 Tablespoons corn syrup * 2 teaspoons vanilla extract * 1 teaspoon baking soda
In a medium saucepan, bring all ingredients to a boil - except for the vanilla extract. Allow to boil gently for at least five minutes. Remove from heat and immediately stir in the vanilla.
Serve warm over pancakes and waffles.
This stored okay for a week in the refridgerator. I just popped it in the microwave for 20 seconds, stirred it and microwaved for another 20 seconds.
1 small box Jell-o or other flavored gelatin 1 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
I should say first that this is a real working recipe. It might seem like a child's experiment, but I have used this for many years.
The directions are very simple: * Mix the gelatin, sugar, cornstarch and water together in a small saucepan and bring to a rolling boil.
* Pour into pitcher and let cool until syrup thickens slightly. Serve over pancakes or waffles while still warm.
You might consider cutting the ingredients in half if you're only serving a small group. This syrup doesn't store well -- it becomes too thick over time.
Enjoy as many flavors of syrup as there are flavors of Jell-O with this easy recipe.
Drain strawberries, reserving liquid. In medium saucepan, combine 1 tablespoon strawberry liquid and the cornstarch; stir until smooth. Add remaining liquid, the berries and lemon juice; bring to a boil, stirring gently. Syrup will be slightly thickened and translucent. Serve warm. Good on pancakes, waffles of buttered biscuits. Makes 1 1/2 cups.
