APPLE DAPPLE CAKE
Mix well:
3 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups oil (or 1 1/2 c applesauce)
Sift together in separate bowl:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp all-spice
Mix the dry ingredients into the eggs, sugar and oil mixture. Add:
2 tsp vanilla
Mix well and add in:
2 cups chopped apples
1 cup chopped nuts
Batter will be thick, pour into greased pan [13x9x2]. Bake at 325° for about 40 - 50 minutes [depending on the apples]. Check for doneness with a knife [but, remember cake will be moist, do not overcook].
Topping:
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter or margarine
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup Caramel Ice Cream Topping (optional)
Cook 2 1/2 minutes and pour over hot cake. Leave in pan to cool
