We're preparing to migrate our site to Aimoo, probably in the next week or so. We want to give everyone time to ask any questions you might have before we "move". At the same time, we feel it's important to go ahead with the move and not wait until Aimoo is inundated with MSN requests. If there is a problem with the migration, it may be necessary for the Aimoo administrator to go back and try again.......which might take a few days to a week or so.
Before we start the migration, there are some things you need to know.
**In order for Aimoo to make the transition, both of our sites (MSN & Aimoo) have to be made public. Once the transition is complete, we will return to our private settings on both sites.
**The transition should take approximately 7 days. It could take a few days less, or a few days more.
**Both sites will still be accessible for posting during this time. The little Aimoo bots will be crawling around in the background and we shouldn't even notice anything.
**The archived MSN site will appear at the bottom of the page on the Aimoo site. We can set permissions (restrict/allow certain members) to any of our forums............except the archived site. Some of the MSN users have voiced their concerns about this and Aimoo Administration is looking into perhaps changing it so that the archived forum can also be set with certain restrictions. This just means that any new members we get will also be able to read our archived MSN postings. If you've made any postings that you'd rather "strangers" not see, you can delete them. We'll leave that up to each member. I have checked on the Survivor site archives and found that you can no longer view the member list or click on someone's name and see their email address......you just get an error notice. So I don't expect anyone to be able to get any of our personal information.
Our suggestion is that you make the necessary changes to your Aimoo profile that Emm outlined
You also might want to go into your MSN profile and make your email address invisible there as well.
If there is anything on the MSN site that you want to be sure is not lost (photos in your albums, email addresses, etc.), you might want to copy them and save them elsewhere. (We will probably just delete the entire Email Thread before we make the site public.) While most of the migrations seem to have gone well, I have read of some problems with all the pages transferring, etc. So just a heads up on that.
Once the migration is complete, we'll post a message here on the MSN site with a link to the Aimoo site so any of our members can find us. We also hope at that time everyone will just post on the Aimoo site instead of going back and forth to two sites.
We know some of you have been very frustrated about all the changes, and believe me, we feel your pain!! LOL!! Change is always hard and it's been a real learning experience for all of us. But, we feel confident that once we all play around on the new site, we'll all get more comfortable and once again be a happy family..........which is our main goal!! I think I learn something new every day and hope to learn more. MSN is has been the most user friendly site I have ever seen, but I remember well how lost I was when I first started trying to post on it too. We just ask that you be patient and give it a
chance. Everyone that is getting more familiar with Aimoo is more than happy to help answer any questions anyone has...........'cause they're just a great group of folks!
If you have any questions, ask away and, with any luck.........we'll have an answer........or find one!
