Allen is head JV coach at Centennial High and last year the team won 1 game..this year in their league they were 5-2 so his first year was a winning season. It really got the kids pumped up to play Varsity. |

Jonesy, I am so proud just seeing how proud you are of Allen! You are amazing yourself, even if you are rain and now probably snow soaked by now! I am glad to know Steve's older sister! |

Our School is the West Monroe Rebels. This link will tell you a lot about our School. This article was done back in '01. Our stadium now seats over 20,000 and is usually packed most games. Evangel Christian School is located in Shreveport, La. which is about 80 miles from here. They always have an excellent football program and usually "play up" in classification against much larger schools. They are classified as a 1A I believe and they used to play against us in 5A but they dropped back to 3A a couple of seasons ago. There are less than 300 students in the school and they dress out about 80 on the football team. It is a private school and there are Doctors, Lawyers, etc. that "sponsor" kids from underprivledged areas by paying the tuition for them to attend that school. The public schools teams have to use the kids in their assigned district to field their teams. It's kinda like a High School playing against a College team when you play them. Congrats to your son on the winning season! Both of your kids are making a big difference in a lot of kids lives. You done good Jonsey! |

OMG...Allen would kill to be part of a stellar program like that. I can't imagine being at one of those games. Don't you have a son Scott? Are you grooming him for football and did you play? |

I just read your first post and saw that you have a son that's a freshman. You also must be a very proud dad!! As I said, unbelievable to have 14 to 20,000 at a highschool game..Are schools are lucky to have 200. Amazing, I would love it. |

There are a few players from our school that are currently in the NFL. Bradie James with the Cowboys and Andrew Whitworth of the Bengals are two of them. My son would love to play but he realizes that he isn't quite good enough to be able to get much playing time and he said he'd rather watch from the stands than from the sideline so if that works for him it works for me. I never got the chance to play High School Football. The small school I went to (about 350) only got their first JV team my senior year and the first varsity team the year after I graduated. I did play varsity Baseball and Basketball though. There's a kid from a school about 30 miles from here that is awesome! He is ranked #1 in the nation on some poles. his name is Rueben Randle and he is a wide reciever. He is being highly recruited by a lot of universities, It looks like he's leaning toward going to Alabama so that will make Smitty happy! This kid will one day be a star in the pros. |

Wow Scott! That is great news! Team spirit is certainly alive and well in West Monroe, LA! It's great to hear about a community that stands behind it's team the way yours does. Good luck to them in the game today!! |

That's a neat story Jonsey. That is tough when something like that happens to someone so young. That is the same type tumor that my Mother-in-law had. This story is the first time that I have ever heard of it travelling beyond the brain when it reoccurs though. It can reappear in other areas of the brain but of all the research I've done and read, they say that a Gioblastoma Multiforme never travels to other parts of body as other types of cancer often do. |
