The trip was overall great! I left at 5AM and headed South. Just about all the way is high speed 4 lane and then Interstate once you hit Milwaukee all the way to within 40 miles of where my Mom lives and again 4 lanes(65mph) the rest of the way.
I was doing great even with heavy traffic until I hit Nashville at 4:30PM. Talk about a nightmare, everyone on 5 or 6 lanes running 70mph were bumper to bumper. Up ahead as far as I could see there were tailights coming on one right after another. Next thing we were at a dead stop so I moved to the inner lane which seemed to be moving best and about 30 minutes later I got to where there were around 14 cars in a fender bender. Once I cleared that it was clean sailing the rest of the way. I got there right around midnight.
Next morning I discussed the property line with my Mom and she was highly upset about the matter. Come to find out my Mom doesn't have a clue where the property markers really are so I showed her and explained they were not trying to build on her property. I met the neighbors and they seemed nice and concerned about the issue my Mom raised. My Mom even told them she was sorry for the "colorful" language she used with them if they stepped foot on her land without permission.lol I think every year she thinks her property grows. She is sitting on I believe 9.7 acres total (you have to have at least 4 to build a house where she is) but to her it is turning into the Ponderosa.
Next day it turned cold (50's/lower 60's), overcast with scattered misty rain. It stayed like that until I left Saturday. I did get out to see a few things and visit old friends. My Mom told me everytime I left the house "Make sure you don't go visit any old girlfriends"!lol I have no idea why she came up with that "off the wall" comment. Must be getting paranoid in her old age.
Thanksgiving Day - about 40 members gathered to celebrate the day and we had a great time. We had 4 generations there and some of them(kids) I had never met! We also have 3 members serving in the military with 2 in Iraq and 1 getting ready to go.
Jazzy - when I went through Indianapolis (both ways) I turned off the cd player and said a special prayer for Dee from all of us that knew her! A LADY that always did good by me and someone I truely miss. I'm glad you got to know her so well!
My outspoken Mom told me exactly how she felt about Bush, Hillary and a few others that is not on her XMAS card list! I just had to kinda laugh when she said 20 years of Bush/Clintons is enough. She as well as I are voting as Independents. I'll say this one time that I will vote for someone who has common sense and will address the nation and tell us what Congress is up to - so if Lou Dobbs doesn't run I probably will not vote.
Trip home was awesome - no traffic and cool clear weather. Guys - the 3.7 V-6 engine averaged over 24 mpg on the trip. Down was 59mph average with the traffic but over 68mph back. Yes I was exceeding the normal speed limit of 70 but was running with the pack every chance I got.
BTW everyone into college football - this was just not the year to be ranked #1 or #2, that was a jinxed position this year. Thank goodness Alabama was in the lower 25 most of the season!lol
Hope everyone had an awesome holiday and spent it with your loved ones!
