Products used to clean hair and clothes are they same ones that will keep your hair tools sparkling clean as well.  Try throwing them in the washer (not the dryer) with laundry solution or wash them with the same shampoo you use to remove residue from your hair.  A natural alternative is to soak them in a baking soda and water solution, rinse and air dry.
