Picot-Edge Hat, Mittens and Scarf

Intermediate experience required

Size:

  • Hat and mittens, one size to fit child 3 to 5 years
  • Scarf, 6" wide x 43" long

Materials:

  • Patons Decor yarn (75% acrylic, 25% wool, 100 g balls): 1 ball Country Pink #1646 (MC), 3 balls Barn Red #1714 (color A), 1 ball Orange #1713 (color B), 1 ball Burgundy #1647 (color C)
  • Knitting needles: 1 pair 4 mm (US 6) and 1 pair 4.5 mm (US 7) or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Yarn needle
  • 4 stitch holders
  • Scissors

Gauge:

  • Hat and scarf: 20 sts and 26 rows = 4" in St/st with larger needles.
  • Mittens: 21 sts and 28 rows = 4" in St/st with smaller needles.
    Check gauge before beginning work. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge.

Stripe Pat:

With A, K 1 row, P 1 row.
With MC, K 1 row.
With B, P 1 row.
With MC, K 1 row.
With A, P 1 row, K 1 row.
With MC, P 1 row.
With B, K 1 row.
With MC, P 1 row.
