One Wreath, Four Ways

Bold and beautiful (PHOTO: DAVID PRINCE)

Start with a circle of greens, trim with imagination and deck your door in a style that says "you"

Bold and Beautiful

This radiant wreath shows your true colors -- and all it takes is a few boxes of glass Christmas

tree ornaments. Choose bright hues and a variety of sizes.

Detailed Instructions:

Collect several dozen glass balls (for an 18-inch form, we used 28 large balls and 60 small ones). Attach balls to the wreath with floral wire until most of the greenery is covered. Use heavy wire for a hanging loop and camouflage it with a wide satin ribbon.

Traditional with a Twist
(PHOTO: DAVID PRINCE)

There's nothing ordinary -- or complicated -- about this joyful display. Simply string popcorn and crab apples (or cranberries), tuck in some holly leaves and polish the look with a big red satin bow.

Detailed Instructions:

String popcorn and cranberries or crab apples on heavy bendable wire to make 6 mini garlands. Wrap these around the wreath in alternating sections (each garland is wrapped 3 times) and fill in with clusters of fresh holly sprigs. Polish the look with a big red satin bow, secured with a florist's U-pin.

Whimsically Inclined

To satisfy a sweet tooth (or 10), decorate with candies of the season. Your guests will love helping themselves.

Detailed Instructions:

Tie little bows around a dozen cellophane-wrapped candy canes and secure them to the wreath with thin metal wire. Add a few handfuls of peppermint candies, each wired at one end of its twisted wrapper. For added decoration, attach raspberry drops using a hot-glue gun.

Back to Nature

For a wreath that's as fragrant as it is pretty, trim with bundles of aromatics such as heather and lavender. Accent with berries, pinecones and -- for a surprising touch -- a cluster of artichokes.

Detailed Instructions:

Wire wreath with assorted small bundles of aromatics such as heather and lavender. Then accent with wired clusters of hypericum berries and fill in with several pinecones, hot-glued on. Finish with a small flourish of lemongrass, eucalyptus and 3 small artichokes. Wire all together and top with a floppy satin bow in magenta.
