The beloved granny-square throw gets a modern makeover. Instead of just joining them end to end (the old way), we’ve framed pastel granny squares with wide blue borders that highlight their airy, lacy charm to perfection. The result? A striking new look for an old favorite.
Yarn:
Patons Décor (3.5-oz/100-gr skein 75% acrylic/25% wool worsted-weight yarn): 8 skeins Periwinkle 1641 (MC), 2 Nautical 1711 (E), and 1 each Pale Coralberry 1650 (A), Pale Aqua 1610 (B), Pale Olive 1607 (C) and Rich Periwinkle 1642 (D); to mail-order, call Herrschners Yarn Shop toll-free 800-441-0838
Crochet hook:
Size G/6 (4.00mm) or size that gives you the correct gauge
Gauge:
Block 8"; granny center 5".
Stitches:
Colored granny squares in treble crochet (tr) are surrounded by (sc, ch 1) borders of MC. [To make a tr: Yo hook twice, draw up a loop in work, (yo and through 2 loops on hook) 3 times.] The squares are joined as you go. The joinings help to frame and define the blocks.
