Denim is front and center this season, especially distressed dark denim, caramel colored denim and black denim. To dress it up, add a turtleneck. This winter necessity has a new soft, relaxed feel with a semi-cowl neck. It offers not only a very pretty feminine look but is comfortable as well.
If the turtleneck is not for you then consider the trendy babydoll blouse carried over from the fall. An updated version of the basic blouse has arrived. It is ultra-feminine in sheer printed fabrics with soft, flowing sleeves and ties located almost everywhere ?on the neck, sleeves, back, and even the sides. Go ultra chic and pair it with this season’s flared pants and longer skirts.
Suede is all over the place! Add a suede fringed belt and you will be looking hot this winter. Go retro and find a pair of pants with tie-ups or fringes. Be sure to check out faux suede and euro-suede (100% polyester) too. They are machine washable and easy on your budget.
Here are some other pointers to keep in mind when dressing up this season:
- Texture is everywhere ?on purses, belts and boots. Details of fringes, ruffles, beads and embroidery are all accents that move you into this winter.
- Gloves are a must; they look great in the luxurious leather, suede and velvet fabrics. They also come trimmed with animal prints and faux furs.
- Pointed toe boots in any length are good. High-heeled stilettos are a must (just be careful in the snow).
- Key colors this season are wine, cranberry, nutmeg, caramel, cinnamon and basic black.
Tilly’s One Tip Wonder: Invest in a new pair of pointed toe boots in caramel or black.
