Floppy Disk Space

I know we've said before here at WorldStart that floppy disks are going out of style. Nowadays, everyone is using either a flash drive or a CD to save their data. Well, that all may be true, but that doesn't mean there are still some of us out there that love our floppies! So, today's quick tip is devoted to all the floppy users who remain!

Have you ever wanted to check the amount of space you have available on one of your floppy disks? If so, it's very simple to do and you follow the same directions as you do when you're checking the open space on any other drive on your computer. First, make sure you have the floppy disk you want to check in your floppy drive. From there, double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and highlight the A: drive, which is the 3 1/2 Floppy Drive.

Right click that drive and choose Properties. A window will then appear on your screen that shows you all the information about your A: drive. It will tell you the used space, the open space, the total capacity of the disk and so on. It even gives you the information in a pie chart form if that's easier for you to read. Everything you need to know about your floppy disk is in this very box. Never wonder if you have enough room on your floppies again!
