Recovering E-mail Downloads and Attachments

Do you receive a lot of attachments and downloads via e-mail? If so, do you ever happen to lose your Internet connection before the download or attachment is finished loading? That can actually happen quite frequently, especially for those of you who use dial-up. Then when you log back in, you basically have to start all over again, because without a complete download, there's nothing you can do. Or is there? Fortunately, there's a place on your computer where your e-mail program holds all of your e-mail downloads, attachments and even attempted downloads. Therefore, if you’ve misplaced or accidentally deleted one, you can access it. Hallelujah!

Here's how you can do it in AOL, Hotmail and Yahoo!

AOL

Log in to your AOL account and go to File, Download Manager.

All of your downloads (attempted ones too) will be right there. Inside the Download Manager window, click on the download you would like to recover and on the right hand side, you will see the file name, location and size. You will also see the file's progress status (whether it's finished or not), the date it was attempted and where it came from.

To resume a download, just click on the File Name link or the Open button at the bottom of the window. Or, if you want to find the exact location of a certain file, simply click on the Location link or the Find button.

Hotmail

To find a lost download in Hotmail, simply type the word "Attachments" into the search box and then click on the Mail button.

Yahoo!

In Yahoo!, click on the My Attachments link on the left hand side. A window will then open with a list of all your sent and received attachments and downloads. You can then search through them by sender, document extension type, date, etc. to find the one you want.

So, the next time you misplace or accidentally delete an e-mail with an attachment or download, you will know exactly where you can go to find it. Yes!
