Put on Your Gmail Goggles
Have you ever sent out an e-mail late at night and regretted it when you woke up in the morning? You know, when your brain was functioning just a little bit better! Well, the Gmail team has created a great little feature that will keep that from ever happening again. It’s called Mail Goggles and it’s part of Gmail Labs. Let's check it out, shall we?!
1.) Log in to your Gmail account and from the links bar in the top left hand corner, click on Settings.
2.) Now, from the tabs bar, click on Labs.
3.) Scroll down to the Mail Goggles option and select Enable.
4.) Next, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Save Changes. Mail Goggles is now enabled, but what do you say we tweak it a little bit?!
5.) Click on Settings again, but this time, go under the General tab.
6.) There will be a section called Mail Goggles. Change the times to when you think you send wrong e-mails most of the time. Sometimes I do some late-night computer surfing, so for extra protection, I set my times from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. You’ll then be required to solve a math problem in order to send any e-mails during that time frame. So, if you’re good at math, make sure you set your difficulty level to five!
7.) Hit Save Changes at the bottom of the page and you’re good to go!
Now, just as a test, I sent an e-mail to myself with something ridiculous in it. Luckily, Mail Goggles stopped me from sending it!
Give it a try for yourself. I'm guessing it will save you from a lot of embarrassing e-mails!
