Shamrock Sugar Cookies

Bring a touch of the Emerald Isle to your home with these dazzling Shamrock Sugar Cookies, decorated with icing tinted with  McCormick® Green Food Color.

Makes about 22 (2 cookie) servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes per batch

Cookies:
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon McCormick® Cream of Tartar
1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Nutmeg

Emerald Isle Icing:
13 drops McCormick® Green Food Color
2-3 teaspoons milk
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

1.  Preheat oven to 375°F.  Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add egg and vanilla and mix well.  Combine remaining cookie ingredients and slowly add to butter mixture.

2.  Chill dough.  Roll to 1/8-inch thickness on lightly floured* surface and cut dough with shamrock cookie cutter.  Bake on greased baking sheet 8-10 minutes or until light brown.  Cool cookies completely on wire racks before decorating with green icing.

3.  Icing:  Mix 13 drops of green food color with milk.  Combine with confectioners' sugar, stirring until color is evenly distributed and icing is smooth.

*Combine 1/4 cup flour and 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar to use for dusting surface.
