Chai Sugar Cookies
Cutting the Calories    Shaking the Salt Habit    
Makes 30 (2-cookie) servings.
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Refrigerate: 2 hours
Cook Time: 8 minutes per batch
 
 
 
 

1 cup  (2 sticks)  butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons Chai Spice Blend (recipe follows)
2 teaspoons McCormick® Cream of Tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
2 1/3 cups flour
Sugar


1.  Beat butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.  Add 1 1/2 cups sugar, Chai Spice Blend, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; beat until well blended, scraping side of bowl occasionally.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.  Beat in as much flour as possible with mixer.  Stir in any remaining flour with wooden spoon.  Cover.  Refrigerate 2 hours or until dough is easy to handle.
2.  Preheat oven to 375°F.  Shape dough into 1-inch balls.  Roll in sugar.  Place abut 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

3.  Bake 8 minutes or until lightly browned.  Remove from baking sheets.  Cool completely on wire racks.

Chai Spice Blend:  Mix 2 teaspoons each McCormick® Gourmet Collection® Ground Cardamom, Saigon Cinnamon and Ground Cloves with 1 teaspoon McCormick® Gourmet Collection® Ground White Pepper until well blended.
