Welcome to the 27th Martin Perry Archive Auction

There are several very important changes in how the auctions are working now. Please be sure to read the following carefully. The most urgent change is the address to which you must submit your bids.

I am pleased to announce the next Archive auction to begin immediately and end on Monday, the 1st of September at 8:30 PM EST. Which is 5:30 PM Pacific Time, 6:30 PM Mountain Time, and 7:30 PM Central Time.

The bidding, as most of you know, will work thusly: Each bidder may only bid once on each item offered. In the case of an additional bid, only the first, regardless of the amounts bid, will be honoured.
Bids must be made via e-mail only to:

[email protected]

Bids will also be accepted at:

(757) 722-1943

The auction pictures and descriptions can be found on the Fragile World Board at

(I’m afraid that my photo program has flipped it’s lid and the fix isn’t here yet, so most of the photographs look like the work of a 6 year old, it’s the reason that the auction is so late being posted!)

[For those of you who believe that all of my photographs look like the work of a 6 year old, I must object. I feel very strongly that my photographs are much more up to the standards of a 7 year old using the very latest in the Brownie camera line ]

If you need help accessing that board, please contact me at the martinperrystudios address above.

This Auction is for a group of Prototypes from a collection called the Primitives and from a group of etched boxes by Monique Baldwin which have the appearance of bone & wood.

Neither collection was ever released. However, several pieces were given to HOP for their “Raffle of a Life Time?and their Rarities Auction at the "Let Freedom Ring" event in Philadelphia in 2004

and it seems that there is the possibility that several more may have gone over the Antiquark transom before the guilty party was identified and sent packing.

These, however, are the only pieces that have Certificates of Authentication.

***Please note that several of the pieces were broken coming out of the moulds and were repaired at the factory or in one case, by me. While this is, I must admit, not a rare occurrence, some are visible under magnification or with a sharp eye. This is quite normal with prototypes and/or artists?trials. All of these pieces are either one or the other and have been handled by the artists with less than TLC. For those of you, like me, who seem to feel the vibes left by the artists hands, this “proof?of their handling only give the pieces more value. For those who are only interested in machine like quality, I would suggest that you contact me regarding the piece (s) you are most interested in before you place a binding bid. I will be more than happy to let you know if the piece you are interested in has such a flaw or not.

On to the Auction!

As always, the winning order has been pre-determined and will be awarded according to the amount of the winning bids.

Because MSN has erased this post several times while I've been inserting the pictures, I'm going to post the body and then add the pictures in the following posts.

Etched by Monique Baldwin we are offering:

A Unique Cat Jar

With covers & etched around with three different cats. There is only one Prototype available.

Leopard Pots

3 Prototypes are Available

ThisTiger

face of the same Tiger.

GONE FISHING

There are three of these Fishing Pot Prototypes available.

Again looking as if they are etched on bone, they, however, have the same fish on both sides of the box.

The Wild Game Pots

There are only two of these Prototypes available.

THE PRIMITIVE SERIES

Is a strong group of animals and makes a statement all its own.

There are three (3) Rhinos, each with a different finish

Because these are all so totally different, we are allowing, on this piece only, bids to be made on each piece separately

Please be sure to specify which # or #’s you are bidding on

I can't add any more pictures, so in order to see the Wild Game Pot, the Gone Fishing Pot and the Cat Pot, please email me ( [email protected] ) and I'll send them directly to you via email. I'm sorry that MSN has been giving me such a hard time this week, but............

Lots of questions about who painted the Primitives....they were all done at Antiquark. Martin enjoyed playing with finishes and stains.
He was amazing to watch. He managed the most intricate designs with just a rag and a pot of stain. I loved sitting there next to him , whenever I could get home,(with my jaw at a most unladylike angle) absolutely mesmerized. Did I mention how unbelievably fast he was??
So, the winners will be getting a piece of Martin's design and his hands on finishing.

Another global answer to questions~

Regarding repairs:

I really spoke too soon. None of the pieces in this auction have been broken, out of the moulds or any other way. Without meaning to, I seem to have kept all of the repaired pieces for the next auction.

The next auction will have four repaired pieces and I will include pictures with the repairs magnified and marked so that there will be no misunderstandings right from the very start of the auction.
