Hello everyone...

By now you may have heard that MSN has decidied to discontinue providing the service called MSN Groups... where we host the Harmony Kinghdom World Message Board.  This board along with all the others will cease to be in February of 2009.

Now... MSN has negotiated with another company to migrate existing MSN groupsto between now and then -- this new service company is called Multiply.com.  Message boards migrated to Multiply would carry all the content -- but would be in a radically different "blog" format.

Now that all of that has been said -- here is our dilemma for the HK World Board... in order to mgrate an existing MSN group, you must have full MANAGER status... and we have not had one of those for almost 5 years now.

The original HK World board managers ahve since moved on to other pursuits or as with most of us, changed email addresses several times over the years.

So unless MSN makes some allowance for the situation we are in, I will not be able to migrate the HK World board to the new service.

I would pose this... in the event that MSN does not come back with an alternative solution (I have contacted MSN customer service and they are reciewing the "problem")... would any of you be interested in if we started up a fresh new HK related board on the new Multiply.com service?

If enough people want this done, I will go ahead and set it up... we still have the full backing of the Harmony Ball Company.... so basically it's up to us if we want to keep it going.

Please post one way or the other so we can get a feel for what the group wants to do...

Thanks!

Mike

Mike, please count me in to wherever you have to move us.  The information that this group provides for all HK collectors is invaluable to all of us.

Yes, I'd like to move with the group too.  I had to pretty much quit collecting when we retired but I do like to peek in and see what everyone is doing.

I recently joined a board on Aimoo.com and it's pretty easy to navigate.  I have not been impressed with Multiply as a message board.  It's really just a blog site.  Like Issy I had a really bad time with Yuku but since some of my groups were going there I tried again and just used a new email and created a new user id and they seem to have really improved the navigation of the site.  I just wish I could get rid of the old id for that old site.  lol

But whatever you decide I would love to follow along.

Hi Mike,
I want to be a part of the new board, whatever form it may take. If it is necessary to start a new board, Yahoo has groups that are very much like MSN. I have not had any problems with the groups that I belong to there. You can set your profile so that you get each message sent to your email or get a digest each day or get only special notices. I don't get a lot of junk mail as a result of those groups. The messages there are numbered and there are threads for the replies.
Let us know if there is anything we can do as a group to help you out with the transition.
Thanks,
Vanda

Mike,
This was posted in another MSN group I belong to.

  • Got headache from finding a new home for your MSN Group!?

Moving your MSN Group Archive to Aimoo today! You need to do nothing, leave it to us! AimooBots will crawl all your MSN archived pages and combining with your new Aimoo forum for free!

Tips you should know before moving
    1. Your msn group must be free to access without any authorizations so AimooBots can crawl your archive pages. Once you agree to move, all your Group public pages will be crawled to our Aimoo database. Aimoo don’t take care of those private pages including calendar or personal documents pages.

    2. All your msn group functions will be disabled in our new Aimoo msn group archive pages. Enjoying our new features in your Aimoo new home with you msn group members.

    3. Your MSN Group pages will stay the same and be kept the time you applied moving regardless of any changes afterwards.

    4. No matter MSN Group is closed; your groups here will be kept forever unless you ask to remove yourself.

    How it works?

Step1, create your Aimoo forum firstly, then go to your forum control panel, click the link “Moving MSN Group?in the left menu.

Step 2, Your MSN Group url,( http://groups.msn.com/domainname/) & Group Name are needed there.

Step3, After applying to move, you need to wait for another 72 hours for processing.

Step4, After Aimoo crawling your pages and setting up your new MSN home archive pages with us, your group will look like this:

If you have any questions, contact us at Support Forum or via [email protected]. We are always there to help and guide you.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for trying to keep this group going. I have been a collector for over ten years and would be sadden to see this group disappear. I truly hope you succeed in finding a new site for us. I do not know what help I can give you but if there is any please let me know.

Sincerely,
Mona

This forum is very good. Please do whatever you can to keep it going on whatever site you can find. Please let me know if I can help in any way and migrate me along as I wish to be part of the heard. Maybe, Mr. Peter can do his next piece on migration of some animals...lol.

Please include me in the move when you go.  I don't say much but I still do read the website.  I hate seeing all the HK boards going down.  I guess an era is passing.  : (

Mike, whatever you decide is fine with me, since your the one doing it, make it easy on yourself.  Just tell us what the name of the website is and how to find it, I think everyone should be happy with that.  Thanks for all your doing.  "T"
