I just received a joyful telephone call from Emmy. There is snow on the ground in Baton Rouge and she is over the top with laughter and fun.

This is only the 2nd time in her lifetime that she remembers it snowing there (the third time was when she was much too young to remember it) and her camera is out of battery life!

At any rate, she is having the time of her life, as is the rest of Baton Rouge..........it's greyt to hear her so happy!!

I would kill for some snow!  We have had non-stop rain for three days and the temps are all over the place... 72 then 52 and now 42... and of course the closer to freezing temps we get the more the weather clears up :-(

Did you get any photos that you can post, Emmy?

Ellen Degeneris had some pics of New Orleans on her show today.

LOL!!!  We get it all, Lynn!!!  That's why they tell you that if you don't like the weather here, hang around a few minutes and it will change!!!   And change it did ....the next day it warmed up a lot and it all melted.

But now SNOW is the rarest weather here of it all!!!  Even the forecasters were surprised as they thought we would only see a few little 'flurries' mixed with sleet and rain.  Well they missed this one by a mile!  The last time we had  any accumulated snow here was 20 years ago!!!  I can bearly even remember it!!! But I will NEVER forget this one!!!!  It was just BEAUTIFUL!!!  The wind was blowing it all around like a blizzard ....and the snow flakes were LARGE!!!  And the best part, it came down from about 5:30am until a little after 12 noon!!!  That's a long time.  I had at least 3 inches of the white stuff in my yard ..... and dead batteries in my camera.   I hurried and charged them as much as I could to get a few shots before it all went away.  Our ground is always so 'warm' that the accumlation doesn't last long.   But this one lastest a good long while because it just kept on falling.  What a GREAT early Christmas prezzie for me and all the other 'kids' in the city.
The mayor declared it "Snow Day" and told everyone to stay home if possible.  We don't know 'nothing' about driving in snow and on frozen streets, etc.   The whole city just shut down and enjoyed the gorgeous sight!!!

THANK YOU, Catie, for posting about my joyous morning!!!  I was bursting with excitement just like a kid and HAD to tell someone.  I knew my dear Friend, Catie, would be up and I just had to call her and share the moment.

2008 has been one unforgettable year for me.   It started off very scary when I had to undergo 2 serious operations.....the first for a partially blocked small intestine caused by a benign cyst.  The second was for breast cancer.  My right breast was removed and after many, many tests and check-ups, I am very happy to say that I am cancer free!!  For this I count my blessings everyday and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.   I am in good health, feel great and so glad that the year is ending so well after a really scary start.   And to think that just a couple of days ago I was blessed with beautiful snow way down here in the swamps of Louisiana.  Who could ask for more???!!!!

Thanks for listening/reading my epistle .... and thank God it has turned out to be a GOOD year instead of a bad one.

I have 3 or 4 pics to post for ya'll as soon as I remember how to do it.  LOL

Emmy,
Glad to hear that you are overcoming your health problems.
Thanks for the pics.
Snow looks a lot different when you know that the temps will be rising the next day and the snow will be going away than when you know that the temps will be dropping and that you will be stuck with it for the next 3 - 5 months!

Emmy - Snow may be beautiful to you but here in New England, unless you're a skier, it is yucky!! It's only beautiful when it first falls but then it turns filthy from the emissions from autos. Glad you enjoyed it! I HATE it!!

Hey, guys!!!  My snow only lasted the day and by noon the next day it was gone.  No time to get messy!!!  And I could stand it anyway since this only happens every 10-20 years!!!!  It was an early Christmas present to me!!!  Gotta love it here!!!
