In an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution Sunday, it was mentioned that "security guards" at the baggage x-ray machines start out at lower pay than foodworkers at the airport.
Job turnover at Hartsfield for these people was somewhere around 335% for the previous year, and somewhere around 450% at another airport. Security functions are provided by private firms, I assume on a low bid basis, and are controlled by the airlines, who pay for them. Lots of changes coming I expect.
