Thanks! :) He's adapting really nicely- he and Loki are already playing chase all the time and play-fighting (which is half the reason we got him). I was a little worried the first couple of days because he was sleeping all the time, but he is 100% kitten energy now (most of it was because he is still on a nocternal schedule). Freya is getting better with him, but it's going to be another several weeks before she really accepts him. Thankfully, he is one of the most laid-back kittens I've ever seen- his response to Freya's hissing and growling was to just sit down (really close to her, too!), stare at her, and then start washing his face.
The only problem is that he likes her "Sensitive Stomach" food better than his kitten food.
Issy, I'm so sorry to hear about Nicky! I know he was grateful for the time he spent with you, though! I've only ever lost one cat before, many years ago. Thankfully, little Tyr tested negative for all those bad diseases already. He was not even in the shelter long enough to get ear mites. I am depressed, though, by the recent Pet World colum (by the writer who's cat could play the piano...he was apparently featured on an Animal Planet show recently)....the writer's cat died at age 4 or 5 from HCM very suddenly. My Loki has the same disease (was diagnosed 5 1/2 yrs ago), and the thought of the same thing happening to him makes me very sad. So far, so good, though, and my fingers are always crossed that his medication keeps working.
