It was a curious thing, the art of wrestling. Something that few people could figure out and even fewer people could master. It didn't take a genius to get into a ring, all it took was passion. Passion was something that Addison knew a lot about. Not in the sense that many would hope for it to mean but in the sense that she loved her job. You had to love the job if you were a wrestler cause there was no way in hell someone that hated the art would continue on in it. Addison hadn't spent her whole life trying to be a wrestler but she had spent the last four years of her life getting ready for the big leagues and although her debut match in the IWE didn't do much for her she was going to keep trucking. She would be facing women that were in that very match but she didn't get the chance to really examine their abilities when she was in the ring with them. It was hard to keep focus in her first match she was too excited about the crowd that surrounded the squared circle. She would make sure to get her head in the game in this match. It was important maybe not more important than her previous match but unlike that match this upcoming match would be for a title. The hardcore title. Addison's forte wasn't exactly hardcore wrestling. Although it would help to have a weapon in her hand to win that match. She was ready for the brusies and scratches that would come with the teritory. These women could hold themselves in the ring it was something that a lot of federations couldn't say the IWE was different though. All the divas on the roster could do amazing things and could roll with the punches Addison was no exception to that. She would roll with the punches and come out on top. She didn't have much reason to be cocky but she had a reason to fight and she was going to do just that to redeem herself from her previous match and she wouldn't give up. This was the chance to establish herself as an IWE superstar and passing that up would just be stupid. Addison was ready for anything that was going to be thrown at her and with this being a hardcore match that was a good theory.
Addison jumped down off the ledge. She looked around at her new apartment placing her hands on her hips. She had just moved to be closer to the IWE headquarters. She couldn't decide if she liked it much or not but that would be figured out soon enough. She had a beautiful view of the city of New York. She was a small town girl coming from Waterloo, Iowa wasn't much but she didn't care. Addison made her way towards a pile of boxes that stood beside her door. She grabbed one down and set it on the couch which was the only thing in the room that was out besides a couple of things in the kitchen. It was a wonder she even found time to move since she had been busy getting ready to be in her first IWE PPV match. She ripped the tape off of the box and opened it up. As she opened it she looked down to see her first pair of wrestling boots. She reached down grabbing them out. She smiled looking at the old pair of boots. She had held on to them for some reasons unknown. She examined them looking at the heel she saw that they were all torn up she shrugged her shoulders dropping them onto the couch. She looked through the box seeing old wrestling tapes of herself from when she began at 17. She smiled looking through it. Her phone then began to ring. She pushed herself up stretching her legs she walked towards the phone grabbing it off the reciever she put the phone to her ear.
Addison Sky; Hello?
Collin Smith; What are you doing?
Addison perked up quickly hearing the voice of the person on the other line. He wasn't a known wrestler but he had trained with her in her later training years. She smiled as she looked around her apartment for a second.
Addison Sky; I am getting a couple things unpacked, just moved to New York.
Collin Smith; I heard, that's why I called. I'm actually in town right now and I wanted to know if you'd like to join me for dinner. I'm really interested in hearing about your career.
Addison looked a little shocked. She wasn't sure how he had figured out about her new job but she wasn't going to complain about getting a dinner invite. She figured she would get a little lonely so far from home but she wasn't to worried about it.
Addison Sky; Wow, yeah where did you wanna go?
Collin Smith; There's a little cafe about a block away from times square. So we should meet up there.
Addison nodded her head quickly realizing that he couldn't see her doing that. She hadn't been able to discuss her match with anyone and she was more than excited to jump at the chance to get what she had to say off of her chest.
Addison Sky; Yeah, what's the name?
Collin Smith; It's called the brightlight cafe
Addison Sky; Okay cool, I'll see you there at sevenish?
Collin Smith; Yeah, sounds good. See you then.
Addison Sky; Yeah, bye.
Addison hung up the phone quickly. She bit her lip as she set it on the reciever. Her expression changed quickly as she realize that she hadn't gotten anything unpacked besides her wrestling boots and tapes. Maybe she was focusing too hard on her job and not enough on her real social life. She ran towards the boxes and searched them for clothes to wear.
Addison laughed before taking another bite of her salad. Collin sat across from her and there was a piano playing in the background.
Collin Smith; So you haven't really told me anything about the IWE, I wanna be in the know about it all.
Addison shrugged her shoulders. She didn't know much about the IWE either she was just getting to know the place and barely the people.
Addison Sky; Well there isn't much to know. It's a wrestling federation, that's about it. I mean it's got good talent and such but there isn't much else.
Collin took another drink of his water looking back over to Addison. She drank her wine.
Collin Smith; What about your match?
Ahh..the question that Addison had been waiting for. She had built up a lot to talk about since finding out about the match but going to anyone in her family just wouldn't work seeing as they thought it was a rediculous job for a woman to have. A small smile trickled onto Addison's faces as she set up to talk about it looking over to Collin.
Addison Sky; Collin, I don't think you even realize how long i've been waiting to have someone to talk with this about. It's my second match in the IWE and it's for the hardcore title so I get to be in a hardcore match the three other women. They all know what they're doing for the most part or so they come off as. I can't say that I know much about my opponants but at the same time they really don't know anything about me. They all have their special gimmicks which I could careless to learn about but I guess I'm only worried about taking each of them out and winning my first title. Although having the hardcore title was never really something that I put on my to do list when I started wrestling I'm not gonna turn down the chance to get a shot at a title. Plus this is only going to jump start my career in the IWE, it definidently won't hurt it. I mean even if I do lose, which I think we can both agree isn't going to happen, I'll put up a damn good fight and show that i'm worthy of something in the place.
Addison sat back in her chair pushing herself further from the table. She looked over to Collin who was still eating.
Collin Smith; So you're pretty confident then?
Addison nodded her head.
Addison Sky; I wouldn't call myself over confident though. Like I know what I'm doing with it. It isn't just me being a cocky bitch acting like I'm better than everyone else like half the women on the roster. I actually have some skill and I'm going off that fact rather than just assuming that I'll be the best the fed has seen and I'll have all the glory. I'm playing it cool and relaxed..you know like me. Just going in there doing what I can do pushing that extra 10% and hopefully getting the win. I'm not gonna make snap judgements though and say i'm better than my opponants cause although it will hopefully be true I can't exactly tell you.
Collin Smith; Didn't you already compete with these ladies?
Addison Sky; Well yeah, I was much more focused on being out in the ring in front of a real audience for the first time though so it was kinda overwelming there wasn't much time to study them and whatnot. It doesn't matter I guess. I mean I have a lot of drive from just thinking about holding a title. It'll be my first title and i'd say it's not a horrible one to hold. You can use whatever you want in the match and that always helps out a lot. I'm not a complete expert on hardcore matches but if memory serves me right you can use a lot of weapons if you choose. And I definidently think that it will be on my agenda to use that to my advantage. My only concern is of course my opponants that they're going to do the same thing as me which well that could turn out pretty bad, but i'm already over that fact because I think that can dodge it just enough.
Addison shrugged her shoulders again pulling herself into the table again. She took another drink of her wine. she set it down and set her elbows on the table holding her chin up with her hands she looked over to Collin who was finishing his steak. He wiped his mouth off as he looked up to Addison. The piano was playing a beautiful song. Addison looked around the resturant getting a little restless with the place.
Collin Smith; What? Ready to go?
Addison laughed a little putting her hands in her lap. Collin called for the waiter who brought the check. Collin paid for it willingly and Addison and him left the resturant. As Addison walked home all she could think about was her match. She was going over what she knew about her opponants (which was very little) in her head as she counted her steps. It was an odd thing that she had done since she was little but it was something that helped her to focus which she thought she needed to do. Maybe she was exaggerating the match and the thing at stake here but as she saw it a lot was at stake for her. Maybe not for the other ladies who were obviously a little more established in their IWE careers Addison wasn't. She held her purse close to her as she entered her apartment building. She made her way up the six flights of stairs and finally made it to her apartment. She grabbed the keys quickly out of her black purse and unlocked the door. All the boxes were still stacked next to the door. Addison smiled to herself as she set the keys on the kitchen table. She made her way over to the couch that had her old wrestling shoes sitting on them. She picked them up sitting down on the couch. She looked at the boots once again. She reached down to her feet taking off the tall heels and leaving them on the floor. She grabbed the boot beside her and slipped her foot into it. she laced it up and stood looking down at the boot. She nodded her head still smiling feeling right at home.
