Out Of Character Comment; Yeah...so no dream sequence..WHAT? Yeah it's like a regular r/p.. Hadley Harper had a lot of her shoulders, there were new divas coming in every single day and each one of them wanted the same thing. They all wanted glory, they all wanted power. Not just any power though, the power that Hadley Harper possessed. Hadley had a title sitting on her shoulder, one that said she was the top diva in OCW. it was a spot that many newcomers and perhaps some veterans wanted to own. Their only problem was they needed to go through Hadley to get to what they wanted. She wasn't going to budge. Jade Taylor's attempts at making herself look good had fallin short and only made Hadley look better. Miss Taylor was expecting all her dreams to come true, but as Hadley had already stated when Jade approached her in the first place, those dreams weren't budging from her head. Hadley had a lot of heart and she absolutely hated being made to look like a fool. Losing to Jade Taylor would definitely do that to her. She would look like a complete fool and she wasn't going to allow that to happen. There was a fire burning in Hadley's heart, one that was lit when she was handed the women's championship. She stared down at it as the light hit the part where her name was tacked on. There had never been a happier moment in her life. She thought for sure that it would beat any type of love that a man offered. She was in heaven and she was more than just on top of the world. That wasn't something that Hadley was about to let go. Sure this was a non-title bout, but this match if Hadley lost, would lead to someone like Jade Taylor getting a title shot, a shot at Hadley's title. That didn't settle well, hell anyone getting a shot at Hadley's title didn't settle well. She loved competition alright and she was getting a lot of it lately, but she wasn't about to put her title on the line every second she could. She wasn't just going to hand out title shots to nobodies that had just simply walked in off the streets. No that wasn't her style, she was too good for that kind of shit. She just needed it to be known right away that this pathetic excuse for a wrestler, Jade Taylor, wasn't going to be the threat that everyone seemed to think that she was. She was nothing more than a wanna-be a simply pawn in the game of chess. A less important game piece, one that got thrown off first. Hadley though, Hadley was one of the most important..she was the queen. Hadley looked across the marble table at the older gentlemen that looked with his eyes squinted down at the chess table. It was a gentle game, one that needed a lot of time and a lot of thought. The man examined the table scratching his beard trying to make a decision. A slight smile creeped across Hadley's face, she noticed something that would allow her to win. He just had to make the move that she wanted him to make. The man then leaned forward, he stopped looking at the chess table once again and examining it one last time to make sure he wasn't missing anything. He then reached forward ever so slowly moving his bishop in a diagonal to capture one of Hadley's pawns. She shrugged her shoulders trying to contain her laughter. Hadley looked at the game for a second pretending as if she didn't know what to do. It was her tact to allow her opponent to think they stood a chance, if only for a second. Hadley then leaned forward grabbing her queen and moving it into place. Hadley Harper; Check and mate my dear. The man looked in shock, he examined the board trying to tell her it was wrong. Finally he simply shrugged his shoulders and looked up to a smug looking Hadley proud of herself for beating him. They sat in silence for a little bit, Hadley was allowing the man to let her win sink in. Finally she leaned back into her chair clasping her hands in her lap. Hadley Harper; Well Bradley I win. Bradley; Looks like it. I've taught you well then? Hadley nods her head giggling a little to herself. Bradley; You learn quick. I mean you've only played a few games and you're already beating the best in the park. Bradley chuckled a little to himself. Hadley Harper; I'm a quick learner because I'm competitive. Bradley; That you are. Bradley nodded his head wide-eyed. Hadley looked around for a second and slumped back into her chair looking to Bradley. Hadley Harper; You know though Bradley, you put up a good fight. Probably one of the best fights I've seen in awhile. Bradley; Aren't you a wrestler? Bradley cackled a little bit with a gaspy laugh. Hadley Harper; Yeah but trust me that doesn't mean all your co-workers are going to match-up to you. I mean that's what I've noticed so far. Bradley; Big woman on campus huh? Hadley Harper; Yes that is me dear, I am the best of the best in my company and there isn't anyone pushing me back. Call me what you will Bradley, but don't call me a liar because I am nothing close to it. You know who is though...Jade Taylor. Bradley rose an eyebrow. Bradley; Who? Hadley Harper; Jade Taylor, she's this new girl who thinks she's got it all under control. You know like most all new girls seem to think, they all think they're the best when they step into the company. They expect to just get handed everything like they deserve it but they never do. Now she's out to show me that she does and it's pretty funny to me. There's no chance she's going to be able to prove that to me, not in a million years. All that she's doing is making a bigger ass out of herself by actually claiming she can do it. It's sad really.. Hadley shook her head looking down as if she pitied Jade. Bradley; Now girl you don't wanna go on and get a big head. Maybe this girl really can show ya somethin'. Hadley let out a little giggle. Hadley Harper; Oh that's adorable of you Bradley. Don't stick up for her though, trust me she doesn't have anything on me. All she's got is that she wants to "over throw" me as the queen of OCW. Something that a lot of women want to do and many cannot do, including her. Anyway you look at it I'm better. I'm better at talking, walking, fighting, winning..just better. I suppose that's getting old though, everyone knows that by now don't they? What they need to know is that I don't care who gets in my way they will be thrown to the side because I work my ass off for the business I'm in and I don't want to fail myself. That's my biggest fear I'd say, letting myself slip up. I've done it too much already, three losses is all I need tainting my record. I don't have to see a little four in that spot. I won't see a little four in that spot. Bradley, do you understand what it's like to be the best, the pressure that comes with it? Bradley shrugged his shoulders and looked around for a second a smile on his lips. Bradley; Well before you got here I did. He laughed to himself. Bradley; I mean this park was ruled by me and here you come along and just take it. It's possible you know. I mean hell you just started today and you beat me. I've been playing for years. Hadley Harper; It's possible when I'm the one taking over, but when I'm on top I stay on top, until I don't wanna be any longer. That's the difference right there. I don't think experience is a huge factor, I've said that before, it's when you have raw talent that's what matters. Experience means nothing if you can't use it well. This Jade Taylor girl she's new and she could potentially have talent, but right now she can't meet up to the standards that I've laid out. I feel like I keep trying to get the same point across though, I have proven myself to many people even without trying. I didn't expect to be this good when I first started but I had the talent, the raw talent, that it took to be the best here too. It's just lucky for you that I will only be here tonight. All those pathetic little wanna-be divas in OCW have to deal with me for a few years. Hadley smiled an almost sadistic grin. Hadley Harper; They won't know what to do with themselves. Bradley; You don't think anyone can knock you off huh? Hadley Harper; No, impossible. Hadley crossed her arms over one another and shook her head almost like a child. There was a ringing at Hadley's feet. She looked down to see her phone lighting up, the obnoxious ringtone blasting out through the brief silence. She reached down into her bag and grabbed out her cell phone. She looked at the number and sighed. She flipped open the phone pressing it to her ear. Hadley Harper; Hey bitch, what do you want? Voice; I'm watching you. Hadley narrowed her eyes and turned to look around. Hadley Harper; That's cute, where? Voice; Guess... Hadley looked around a little more letting her eyes settle on a blonde woman standing by a pair of two large oak trees. Hadley laughed and turned back to Bradley. Hadley Harper; I'll be there in a second. Hadley hung up before the blonde woman could say anything. She looked at Bradley. Hadley Harper; I've had a great time dear, it was fun learning how to play chess and all that but I've got to go. Maybe I'll be back down here again to knock that crown off your head. Hadley winked at Bradley as she got to her feet picking up her purse and slinging it over her shoulder. She turned to walk towards the blonde woman. Hadley trudged up the hill letting her green heels sink a little into the grass until she made her way up to the cement. Hadley walked up to the blonde and gave her a quick hug. Hadley Harper; Heather Mackenzie, what the hell are you doing here? Heather giggled a little bit. Heather Mackenzie; I suppose I could ask you the same, aren't you supposed to be somewhere in Europe with your promotion? Hadley shrugged her shoulders. Hadley Harper; I'm flying out tomorrow actually to go to Italy. Wanna get some coffee? Heather Mackenzie; I was thinking the same thing actually. The women nod towards each other and they begin to walk up the hill a little more. Heather Mackenzie; So how are things in the good ol' OCW going? Hadley Harper; Funny you should ask actually. There is a lot of competition flowing in. Heather Mackenzie; Like who? Hadley simply shrugged her shoulders. Hadley Harper; I really couldn't tell you, they're all the same to me. Each one is just looking to throw me overboard to see if they can look good. It's unfortunate that they can't accomplish something like that. I'm always going to have girls like that though just fighting for the chance to prove themselves, they all think they can do it and think that they've got something new to show. The funny thing is, though, that they are all the same. Each one of them has the same thing, how can they really expect to go anywhere when they can't even define the word innovation? It's not all that hard to be original but apparently they don't understand how to manage that one. Hadley and Heather giggled to each other, obviously Heather knew exactly what Hadley was talking about. Heather Mackenzie; Wait, you know you're the bitch? The oldest gimmick in the book.. Hadley looked over to Heather with a smile in her face. Hadley Harper; Yes dear, I am the bitch. I'm not the kind that just goes around pointing out people's flaws though, I for the most part keep it in the field of wrestling. I don't just rant about bullshit things that don't even matter. I mean sure I say I'm the best a lot but I'm not going to lie just to make myself seem nicer. That's for the weak, and that's not me. The weak, those weak at heart that is can't handle this business like I can. They don't get what it means to be on top. They think it's easy like anyone could do it. What they don't get is that I'm the only thing standing in between all those divas and their dream, to become OCW women's champion. Me alone, cause it seems like nowadays they're just getting handed little shots here and there and you don't need much to get up there. I mean how the hell else could you explain AJ Caine getting a title shot. I mean yeah I know she was the women's internet champion but come on! It's just going to be the same story with Jade as it was with AJ though. I'm just going to beat her over and over and over again and there isn't anything that she's going to be able to do about. Do you wanna know why though Heather..it's because I've got more talent. Simple as that. Hadley crossed her arms over one another in an "as a matter of fact" type of way. Heather got a smile on her face looking over to Hadley. Heather Mackenzie; You are so self-absorbed. Heather laughed to herself. Hadley Harper; Would you have it any other way? Heather Mackenzie; Probably not. The women laughed a little bit finally spotting a coffee place on the corner. They walked towards it crossing the road to get over to the coffee shop. As Hadley pushed open the door a bell rung to signify a new customer walking in. Most of the eyes in the coffee shop glanced over to see who was walking in, if it was a local or if it was just a random person, or if they were lucky that day a celebrity. Hadley narrowed her eyes seeing all the glances her way. Most of them shifted back to their newspapers, websites, or friends as Heather and Hadley walked inside. It wasn't all that often that people truly recognized Hadley she was a female wrestler for OCW. Most people didn't even watch professional wrestling so she didn't take it all that hard when people didn't notice her face. Heather on the other hand was a porn mogul someone that men everywhere should be able to recognize. Heather looked a little bummed to see no one's glances remaining on her. The women walked up to the counter where a teenage girl stood ready to take any order that was thrown at her. She had a peppy smile, her ponytail bouncing behind her as she walked up to the cash register to meet the women. Teenage Girl; Well hello there ladies, how are you today? Heather placed her hand on her hip already annoyed by the peppy tone. Heather Mackenzie; Yeah whatever, I'll take a venti skinny chai latte extra hot and... Heather looked back to Hadley who examined the menu. She finally stepped forward looking at the girl. Hadley Harper; A venti skinny caramel mocciato, with only a little foam. The teenage girl, whose smile had faded nodded her head pressing the buttons on the cash register. She then looked up to Heather who had her card already shoved in the girls face. Teenage Girl; That's eleven dollars and twenty-two cents. Heather pushed the card further forward into the girls face. She took it and swiped it holding it back out for Heather. Heather Mackenzie; God why are they always so happy? Hadley Harper; They work in a coffee place. Hadley shrugged her shoulders as Heather giggled a little bit. The teenage girl had to feel as if she was in high school right now. She slumped back into her body and walked back to her friend who was making the coffee for the two women. Heather looked around for a second. Heather Mackenzie; I can't believe it, not one person in here recognizes me. Heather looked a little disgusted. Hadley Harper; You're so pathetic. Why am I even friends with you pornstar? That's not classy. Heather shook her head. Heather Mackenzie; I'm as classy as they come you bitch, you better recognize that. And don't play that classy bullshit on me I'm not one of those little brainwashed wanna-bes in OCW. I don't play it up trashy I keep it classy, no need to fix me. The teenage girl walked back up to the counter setting both coffees down in front of the women. They reached forward for them each grabbing their own. Without a thank you they walked over into the corner of the coffee shop to a little table for two by the window. They situated themselves readying for conversation. Finally they got comfortable and looked up to each other. Hadley had her grin on her face as she took a sip of her coffee. Heather looked out the window for a second and let her coffee sit out in front of her as she kept her hands clasped in her lap. Heather Mackenzie; Do you ever feel like you're underestimating someone, I mean an opponent? Hadley rose an eyebrow. Hadley Harper; I don't actually. I feel like I'm accurate in telling whether or not a wrestler is going to be good or not. I mean I realize that they all aren't as horrible as I make them seem, but they sure as hell still aren't good enough. I mean they all say that I don't know what I'm up against, or like they really know what they're doing. That doesn't mean a thing to me. I know exactly what I'm up against, I'm up against a woman that is out to get something they really want. I know that, the problem with that is that I want it just as bad, even though I already have it. You see there is a lot more to prove when you're already the champ as opposed to if you're just shooting for it ya know. Heather Mackenzie; Yeah I know what you mean, sometimes though I just feel like I could do better. Hadley nodded her head, even though it didn't make much sense to her. Hadley Harper; I always try my hardest, it's just something that comes naturally to me. I mean when I lose sure I wish it wasn't that way but i'm willing to deal with it. I mean I've made mistakes but there isn't anything that will make me fall into a tizzy and make me not do my best. Wrestling is that thing for me that takes my mind off of other things. Which is odd in a sense. I mean it's my career and it means the world to me, I can't make an embarrassment of myself in a sport that I absolutely love. Hadley shivered a little bit getting a chill down her spine. Heather Mackenzie; Yeah when I get into that ring it's the best feeling. You just feel like you're in complete control like you can do anything and no one can truly do anything about it. I suppose it's the dominatrix in me. Heather giggled a little bit and Hadley shook her head. Hadley Harper; Seriously Heather lets leave the sex out of it. Heather Mackenzie; I can't help it. Heather shrugged her shoulders a little bit. Hadley Harper; Well whatever, I agree with you though. I like being in control in the ring. I think that's what got me where I am actually. I just worked my way up with my competitive nature and I sure as hell am not stepping down. It has nothing to do with this chick being new either because it doesn't even matter in the least how long she's been in OCW. Heather Mackenzie; She sounds like a tool to me. Hadley Harper; She is. She tries extremely hard not to be though; unfortunately for her she can't escape it. She's a sarcastic little twat too so it will make success even sweeter. I say those girls that think they can beat the best are the most fun to beat cause they just cannot believe it when they fail, which is exactly what is going to happen with this little girl. She should listen up when I talk about what I know because she needs to realize that I know a lot more than she wants to admit. Hadley took another drink of her coffee and finally Heather took a drink of hers. She jumped back a little bit as the coffee burned her tongue. Hadley laughed a little at her as Heather glared back at her setting her coffee on the table once again. Heather Mackenzie; You know that no one is going to admit you're right. Everyone just wants to see you fail because that will give them a chance. Hadley Harper; Yes thank you Heather, I know this already. I just need to make sure they all understand their places, because they shouldn't even think for a second that they can take my spot because they can't. I won't let it happen, not in a million years. Hadley shook her head. There was a loud buzzing noise coming from Heather's purse. Heather looked down at her purse and reached down grabbing out her phone. She held up a finger saying it would only be a minute. She pressed the phone to her ear. Heather Mackenzie; Hello? Yeah....I'm with Hadley....yeah Harper.....okay....i'll see you soon...love you too bye. Heather hung up the phone quickly looking to Hadley. Heather Mackenzie; So that was Nicholas, and I have to go. It was really great seeing you again. When you get back from being a huge big shot with OCW call me. Heather winked at Hadley and patted her hand that sat on the table. Hadley Harper; Alright ditch me for the boyfriend, whatever. Hadley and Heather exchanged a laugh before Heather grabbed her things and exited the coffee shop. Hadley then stared out the window onto the street. Thoughts of her upcoming match washed around in her head. She knew she had what it takes to remain the best in the OCW women's division, but only time would tell if that was true. As Hadley took another drink the scene fades.. |
