•?THE HOLIDAY SEASON
It was that time again, thanksgiving. A time that Heather Mackenzie hated. It was to her a torture process and she hated going through it. Nick and her had caught a plane out to Des Moines to be at her mother's house. Oh what a joyous occasion...for other people. It wasn't that Heather hated her family, it was more that Heather simply hated the holidays. Heather stared at the house as she kept her seat in the rental car. Nick had already gotten out and grabbed most of the bags. He then looked to Heather as she narrowed her eyes looking at the house. He laughed and set the bags down walking over to the car and opening the door. Heather looked to be taken a little off guard.

"I'm not going in there alone. You can't do that to me." Nick shook his head almost looking scared. Heather laughed nervously. She then took in a deep breath letting it out as she stepped out of the car. Nick walked back over grabbing the bags as Heather shut the door.

"Heather, my baby girl!" A loud shout came out as the door opened up. Heather quickly plastered on a fake smile as her mother came towards her wrapping her in a hug. "Nicholas! How are you dear?" Her mother turned to Nick wrapping him in a hug as well. Nick sent Heather a desperate look and Heather couldn't help but to giggle.

"Mom, you're gonna choke him." Her mother finally let go and turned to Heather with an embarrassed smile. She then motioned for them to follow her and they did. Her mother held open the door as they walked in.

"Nicholas, you can set those on the stairs we'll get them to your room after we go through introductions." The excitement in her mother's voice was obnoxious, but Nick did as he was told. He turned to Heather and let out a sigh. Heather pouted her lips and leaned forward kissing him.

"Ew! That's gross!" The voice of a little girl rang out. Heather and Nick broke from their kiss and looked down at the snobby little brunette who had a disgusted look on her face and her hands placed on her hips. "My daddy says that kissing puts you on santa's naughty list, so you're going to get coal in your stocking!" The little girl nodded her head over-dramatically. Heather looked at Nick before leaning down and looking the little girl straight in the eyes.

"You know what else puts you on a naughty list? Lying. Something your daddy did when he lied and told you that Santa Claus is real." Heather grinned as she pulled back up straight still keeping her eyes locked on the little girl who seemed to have gone into some sort of shock. Heather winked at the little girl and she burst into tears. Heather snickers as she turns back to Nick.

"Well, that was a little extreme..." Heather grins shrugging her shoulders as she places her arms on Nick's shoulders. Nick kisses Heather but stops and looks back at the little girl looking a little aggravated as she continues to cry. "So, is she going to stop any time soon? This is really ruining the mood." Heather giggled as she turned back to the girl.

"Heather Ann Mackenzie! What did you do?" Heather's mother's voice booms from down the hallway. Heather turned to her trying not to laugh. Before she could say anything the little girl ran down the hallway past Heather's mother yelling for her father. Heather then looked to her mother and shrugged. "You tell me later, right now though you need to come introduce Nicholas to everyone." Heather nodded and looked to Nick wrapping her arm in his linking them. They walked out into the living room which was filled with people. Oddly enough Heather was an only child. Every year her mother would get together Heather's aunts and cousins for a huge thanksgiving, and it never changed. As Heather walked into the room there was a huge boom of people saying her name she simply put on a smile a nodded.

"Hi everyone, Happy Thanksgiving. Everyone, this is Nick, my boyfriend. I think some of you have met him but yeah...Nick this is everyone." Heather presented Nick and nodded.

"Nick Slater eh? I'm Joey, Heather's cousin. I'm a huge fan." Heather's cousin made his way up to Nick extending his hand for Nick to shake. He shook it as Joey nodded his head almost seeming star struck. Heather giggled a little. "Seriously man I mean the Nick Slater Experience is an effing sweet move man." Joey nodded his head with an intense smile on his face. Nick nodded his head as well.

"Here sweetheart." Heather, who had walked away for a few seconds, handed Nick a mixed drink and planted a kiss on his cheek. He grinned looking at her.

"When did you decide to get older? Did I tell you that you could?" The voice had come from behind Heather. She rose an eyebrow before turning over her shoulder. She let out a shriek of excitement as she lunged towards the older looking man hugging him.

"Daddy! What are you doing here?" Her father started to open his mouth but Heather looked back pulling Nick forward. "Daddy, this is Nick Slater, my boyfriend." Nick extended his hand and her father shook it looking a little indifferent. "I can't believe you're here, mom never..."Heather's voice faded as she and her father walked away leaving Nick to fend for himself in a pool full of Heather's relatives.

"So man, what's up?" Joey's voice called from over Nick's shoulder. He turned back to him trying to bare a grin.
