Rained all day here today (16NOV) and it was cold. It was really warm here this morning. I stepped outside about 0530 or so to have a cigarrette and it was about 75, come about noon it was like 45. It is about 38 outside right now and is supposed to drop down to 27 tonight with the average tomorrow being about 42-45 all day, but sunny. Been huntin squack a lot lately, gun season for deer starts in two weeks. Am going to try and get down home and hunt with my Dad for a couple of days this year. We usually take horses when we deer hunt. I think I need beer right now though, so....

Farmer Protects Animals With Orange Paint

With deer hunters out all over the woods, a farmer has decided to paint his cows, horses and even his dog bright orange to make sure they aren't mistaken for deer.

Friz Konieczka doesn't want to take any chances because he heard about a neighbor's horse being shot during hunting season several years ago.

Konieczka, a Clinton County farmer, wants his animals to stand out ?and they do. Fluorescent orange paint lines their backs and heir sides.

Konieczka said he'd rather spend $5 for a can of orange paint than have one of his animals killed or injured.

He painted his horses, his cows, his goats, his turkeys and even his Dalmatian, Buddy.

Boy Accidentally Shoots Man in Outhouse

A Massachusetts man was shot while using the outhouse at his family's camp by a boy who was target shooting.

Chris Flanagan, 41, of Holliston, Mass., was standing in the outhouse on Saturday morning when he was hit in the chest by a bullet that came through the door.

Police said the shot was fired from a .22-caliber rifle used by a young relative. They declined to give the relationship between the two.

Police were investigating whether the boy, who was not identified because he is a minor, had missed his target or intentionally shot at the outhouse.

Police said the boy was not aware that Flanagan was inside the outhouse.
Flanagan was in fair condition Tuesday at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

My season is almost done (in PA anyway). There is a week of gun left. I don't bow hunt up here, I go down home for that. I took four deer this week here (your only allowed three though, if you get the two doe tags, oooppss). Two buck and two doe. I already took two with a bow down home last week and next week I am going home at least for another couple of days for more. So I have six decent deer this season so far. three of them are in the smoke house, two are getting canned and the other one is already being grilled for consumption. I am already in the process of tanning the hides. I need some new blankets and a new jacket so these will do nicely. I ain't done yet so there will probably be more. Need to get to huntin some varmint here soon again. Ya'll like squirrel and rabbit and stuff? I can give some good recipes for them. I think I posted a good squirrel recipe on JCH, I can't remember, have to go look.
