Well I will be 55 in a few days so if you have lived in the woods since you were six I can definetly learn from you.

But even if you haven't I can learn from you. that is what discussion is about.

We are all wooly guys I guess. But a discussion always brings stuff that you didn't know that you knew or some new thing from someone else.

I was raised on a farm in a swamp without electricity and have some experiance with neolithic/ primitive camping.

I am hardly an expert and now I do not get out like I did. I started doing the primitive camping to teach my kids to be self reliant and use things around them to their best advantage.

I am sorry is anyone was thinking that this was a waving of testicals. I am serious that just because something is posted doesn't mean that we cannot get more out of the post by actively discussing and criticing.

So it sounds like we all have slept out under a piece of canvase. But you know ripstop nylon that has been waterproofed is so much lighter and will take up less space.

I like to read the posts hear and I like to see people make comments. I am not doubting anyones "Cred" I am saying that I get more from a give and take Of experinece and ideas.

I have made knives out of files too. I never seen the use in making a striker for flint and steel. I always carry two ways to make fire. But I am interested in how you made your strikers and how you designed them for the best use.

Really I am just stating the obvious. Survival manuals are plagued with nonsense. even the military manuals. Some of you have been in bad situations and learned the hard way. I would like to take advantage of that.

And maybe, Just maybe instead of just making statements we can find better ways by combining all our experinces.
