A tornado has touched down on the west side of
Manhattan.  This tornado has been following I-70
from Salina, which is an hour west of Manhattan.
They're reporting houses in town being leveled,
businesses being hit....BUT we are okay, no problem
in our area.

One of our sons called, he wanted to know if we were
okay, that the radio said the tornado was spotted very
close to where we live. I told him we're fine, we have
power and we were in the basement!  Thank the dear
Lord it didn't hit!

I haven't been out looking around but from I've heard
Kansas State University has taken quite a hit from last
nights tornado.  There appears to be a lot of damage.
Phil came home, he can't get onto the campus, and he
said there's no way they'd be able to work, so many of
the streets are closed, because of  fallen trees.
A friend had their roof blown off and his boat is upside
down in the neighbors yard.
Today could be a repeat....

I've heard that it might be rated a 3 or 4!  The path is just
devastating.   When you see the trees down and all the leaves
ground into the street, trash laying around, it just makes
everything look so terrible.  One area you can hardly see
the houses because of the huge trees that have fallen onto the
houses.  I think the tornado was closer to us than I originally
thought...but the force of a tornado, even when it's going back
into the clouds, is wicked.
The University is building a parking garage and one of the students
said the crane was spinning in circles, they were afraid that thing
would fly off.
So far there are no watches or warnings for our area but like the
weather channel said, we didn't at this time yesterday.  So, the
eyes are to the sky.

The two dead, from what we've heard, are in Chapman and
one in Soldier.  Unless someone died since that report.

I watched the news and Topeka was getting quite a bit of rain,
we have sunshine and blue sky.  They did add us to the watch
though...

We're not in the watch....it looked like part of Riley
County was included but the crawl said differently.
