New Brunswich joins confederation in 1870. New Brunswick has a long history, the first Europeans to visit was in the 1600's and was called the land of Arcdia. Surrounded by the Gaspé peninsula, Maine, the Gulf of St Lawrence and the Northumberland Strait of the Atlantic Ocean.

• The largest & oldest community in New Brunswick is Saint Johns a population of 72 494 (2001). New Brunswick has a population of 747 000 (2000) . The northern parts are part of the Appalachian Range, the interior is mostly rolling plateau, covered by forest, the eastern is fairly flat and south is rugged. New Brunswick is the largest of the three Maritime provinces. It is now connected to PEI by the Confederation Bridge.
