Canada Day, one of Canada's most important holidays, is celebrated on July 1st.
It honors the day that the British colonies of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and the
Province of Canada became united as one country, called the Dominion of Canada.
Canada Day is celebrated with lots of flags waving, fireworks,
parades, singing, and family picnics celebrating the birth of the nation.
"O Canada" was proclaimed Canada's national anthem on July 1, 1980,
100 years after it was first sung on June 24th, 1880.
The music was composed by Calixa Lavallée and the French lyrics
were written by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier.
HAPPY CANADA DAY!
O Canada
Our home and native land
True patriot love
In all thy sons command
With glowing hearts
We see thee rise
The True North strong and free
From far and wide
O Canada
We stand on guard for the.
God keep our land
Glorious and free
O Canada
We stand on guard for thee
O Canada
We stand on guard for thee
