And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing (Luke 15:5). What makes the heart of God rejoice? Lost people being found. We should not be surprised to find that the salvation of a soul delights the heart of God. The message of the Bible is that of God's love for lost people: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore, if we long to bless the heart of our Lord, we ought to take the gospel to people and lead as many as possible to salvation. Every biblical means of evangelism should be employed. Church visitation programs ought to be supported. Tract distribution should become a regular habit. We must go to people in their times of need to let them know of the love of Christ. Hospital visitation and calling on shut-ins need not be left to pastors alone. Every member of the body of Christ can go with the gospel. Radio and television are powerful tools of outreach, penetrating national borders and gleaning souls in lands where open preaching is forbidden. The reaching of lost people will also bring rejoicing at the coming of the Lord. For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For ye are our glory and joy (1 Thessalonians 2:19,20). Soulwinners and the Saviour rejoice in the winning of the lost: He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him (Psalm 126:6). Join the joyous harvest! |
