The Intruders
Don't think I am complaining
But each tall tale signs suggests
My garden is a haven
For some uninvited guests.
There's the energetic squirrel
See him scrape for this and that
By his very speed of movement
He infuriates the cat.
There are blue jays
there are blackbirds
The are sparrows by the score
All seeking crumbs of comfort
In each picking, pecking chore.
The hedgehog realizes
Sheer endeavor cannot fail
And with that extra effort
He can overtake the snail.
Considering the pleasure
These intruders bring to me
I really have no option
But to let them live rent free.
